Der Zusammenhang zwischen baulichen und methodischen Aspekten in der Schule ist bis heute bekannt. So gilt der Klassenraum als dritter P dagoge neben Lehrern und Mitsch lern. Es ist wohl unumstritten, dass die Lernumwelt eines Sch lers / einer Sch lerin Einfluss auf sein Leistungsverm gen und seine Entwicklung nimmt. Doch neben den bildungspolitischen und strukturellen Ver nderungen der Institution Schule scheint sich an diesem Aspekt nur in Einzelf llen etwas zu ver ndern. Der klassische Schulbau sieht lange G nge, funktionale wei e Klassenzimmer und gradlinige Strukturen vor. Die Entwicklung zur Gesamt- und Ganztagsschule l sst die Bedeutsamkeit eines Lern- und Lebensraums umso wichtiger erscheinen. Welchen Beitrag kann die Planung des Raumes tats chlich dazu leisten? Diese Arbeit widmet sich dem Reformp dagogen Fritz Karsen - verdr ngt durch die Nationalsozialisten und wiederentdeckt durch unter anderem Gerd Radde und Wolfgang Keim. Anhand seiner Idee einer Einheitsschule und der Planung der Dammwegschule Berlin-Neuk lln in Kooperation mit dem Architekten Bruno Taut soll das Zusammenwirken von p dagogischen und baulichen Aspekten betrachtet werden.
