Masquerades as Angels of Light in the Church: Is My Church a Cult Pastored by a False Prophet? a Layman's Guide to Choosing a Church in These End Time
Anybody who is desirous of success, prosperity/wealth, good health, victory in dealing with life issues, etc. is susceptible to deception and scams. How do you distinguish between Biblical faith in achieving these and deceptions and scams? Masquerades as Angels of Light in the Church. The book addresses the deception going on in the Church today. False Prophets transformed into apostles of Christ have mega churches as predicted in the Bible and many people are flocking there. Many false Christs have arisen and many people out of genuine needs go to these churches seeking for miracles and deliverance. The book provides a guide to a layman in choosing a Church in these end times. Who is my pastor? Are my pastor's practices/ministry biblical? Is there occultism shrouded in the operations of the church? Who is the focus of the ministry and who gets the glory? God or the Apostle/Prophet/Bishop/Man of God, etc.? What is the motivation of the "Owners" of the Church? Is it Money and building an empire or advancing the kingdom of God? The book also provides the reader tools to deal with the deception in the church by encouraging the reader to heed Jesus' and other warnings in the Bible.

Tort Liability for Human Rights Abuses

Tort Liability for Human Rights Abuses

Advancing a bold theory of the relevance of tort law in the fight against human rights abuses, celebrated US law professor George Fletcher here challenges the community of international lawyers to think again about how they can use the Alien Tort Statute. Beginning with an historical analysis Fletcher shows how tort and criminal law originally evolved to deal with similar problems, how tort came to be seen as primarily concerned with negligence and how the Alien Tort Statute has helped establish the importance of tort law in international cases. In a series of cases starting with Filartiga and culminating most recently in Sosa, Fletcher shows how torture cases led to the reawakening of the Alien Tort Statute, changing US law and giving legal practitioners a tool with which to assist victims of torture and other extreme human rights abuses. This leads to an examination of Agent Orange and the possible commission of war crimes in the course of its utilisation, and the theory of liability for aiding and abetting the US military and other military forces when they commit war crimes. The book concludes by looking at the cutting-edge cases in this area, particularly those involving liability for funding terrorism, and the remedies available, particularly the potential offered by the compensation chamber in the International Criminal Court.

Adam Gross, philosopher-cum-lawyer, teaches at an Ivy League law school in New York. Good looking, cultivated, bohemian, he was once considered the rising star of his faculty, but that was a decade ago, and times have changed. Doing the job he always wanted, shaping eager, young, minds, showing them what it takes to be a lawyer, Adam has to face the truth that his style is no longer what the students pay for; and his Dean is getting worried about the rising number of complaints. It doesn't help that he is about to start sleeping with the Dean's wife...Faced with a struggle for survival, sandwiched between headstrong students and colleagues eager to see him cut down to size, Adam knows no other course than to keep teaching law as he believes it must be taught - as a global, complex and multi-faceted phenomenon in which American law is just one part of the picture. In a world in which the old certainties have been swept away, in which torture happens on our doorstep, and inequalities multiply, more than ever Adam wants his students to understand that they hold the key to a better, more just, future. This novel by acclaimed Columbia Professor of Law, George Fletcher, is at one and the same time a tale of university life and a fascinating journey into the philosophical world of law. By turns provocative, challenging, shocking and amusing, THE BOND will change forever the way law students (and their teachers) think about the law. "A shrewd and funny insight into a world of ideas, love and intrigue: the American law school" Bernard Schlink, author of The Reader. "This novel provides a unique insight into the workings of the legal mind and the inner life of law schools." Bruce Ackerman, Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science, Yale University See the detailed website for this book: http://fletcher-thebond.com/?cat=4.

Is the advancement of scientific knowledge and the development of biomedical technologies - known as the 'New Medicine' - desirable? George P. Smith asks this fundamental question while also confronting the distribution of these scarce medical resources. Law, economics, medical science, philosophy and ethics all coalesce in this discussion of how to structure normative standards of conduct that will improve the quality of human life. The author begins by examining various economic constructs as aids for achieving a fair and equitable delivery of health care services. He then assesses their level of practical application and evaluates the costs and benefits to society of pursuing the development and use of the 'New Medicine'. The book ends with a case study of organ and tissue transplantation that illustrates the implementation of distributive justice. The author concludes that as long as clinical medicine maintains its focus on healing and alleviating suffering among patients, a point of equilibrium will be reached that advances the common good. This timely and compelling exploration will be a must-read for scholars, researchers, policymakers and all those interested in advances in medical technology and the issues surrounding access to health care.

George Raven served as a police officer in Essex for thirty years, rising to the rank of Detective Superintendent. In this autobiography he looks back on a colourful career, recounting stories of fascinating manhunts, gruesome murders, violent encounters and heart-rending tragedies - as well as plenty of amusing and not-so-amusing incidents as he worked alongside officers who ranged from the excellent to the incompetent. Raven's conclusion in retirement is that police recruitment standards and performance have deteriorated alarmingly over the years, while public perception and trust now stands at its lowest since the British police force was founded. In this entertaining account of his life in the force, he examines the reasons and challenges politicians to address the serious problems facing the police in the 21st century. 'Politicians pass more and more laws, dream up more and more regulations and issue more and more directives to the police, to tie their hands and make enforcing both the good and the ridiculous laws they pass an almost impossible task.'

Moscow Express is a fascinating collection of true stories written by Georgi Vins that will challenge your faith while illustrating God's faithfulness. Some of the stories are Georgi's own personal experiences and others are of those of friends and co-laborers in Russia. A bonus section in the book titled "My Prison Camp Diary" was written by Georgi when he was imprisoned for his faith in Christ in a Soviet prison from 1966 to 1969. The diary papers were smuggled out of the prison and were published in 1975 by a U.S. publisher while Georgi was serving a second prison sentence. As Georgi finished writing Moscow Express years later, he realized that the inoperable tumor discovered in his brain would soon end his physical life. The final chapters of the first section of this book were, quite literally, written on his deathbed. However, as with his previous books, he desired to lift up the name of Jesus Christ and glorify the Lord, so he pressed on with the project despite his declining health. The manuscript was finished just as Georgi's strength ebbed too low to work anymore. On January 11, 1998, after fifty years of actively serving the Lord, Georgi Vins passed from life on Earth to his eternal home. He has left a legacy of courage and enduring faith in the midst of severe persecution.
