This book is written by a group of researchers based on the recent research progress in the fiber/matrix interface degradation under various environmental exposures via molecular dynamics simulation. It provides systematic framework of the model development, simulation techniques, and simulation results and presents the future research directions for investigating the interfacial degradation. By introducing the molecular details of fiber/matrix interface under environmental effects, it advances the fundamental understanding of the interfacial degradation mechanism. Researchers, scientists and engineers in the field of civil engineering and composite materials can benefit from the book. In conclusion, this book provides a computational paradigm and valuable insights on the fundamental interfacial degradation mechanism, which can contribute to the prediction of long-term behavior of fiber-reinforced polymer composites in harsh environments and pave the way for the material design with stronger interface.

This open access book presents a new structural model of “multi-arc-basin-terrane system” based on the in-depth research of the Nujiang-Lancangjiang-Jinshajiang region, especially several Paleo-Tethys ophiolitic mélange belts and sets of arc-basin systems, and a new orogenic model of “The Hengduan shan Mountains” based on penetrated research on spatial-temporal framework and orogenic models of different orogenic belts under large-scale strike-slip-shear-nappe structures evolution. The authors paid special attention on the coupling relation between orogeny and metallogenesis. The metallogenesis and dynamic process are probed under the crust–mantle interaction and material-energy exchange-transmission background and the tectonic units evolution. The ore genesis and distribution of deposits have been thoroughly analyzed, and the metallogenic theories of "multi-arc-basin-terrane" and "intracontinental tectonic transformation" in the Nujiang-Lancangjiang-Jinshajiang region have been carriedout. This book also illustrates how to explore metallic deposits in the Nujiang-Lancangjiang-Jinshajiang region by using the metallogenic regulations. Meanwhile, this book has high reference value for researchers working in the fields of basic geology, environmental geology, and energy geology.

This book examines the learning curve of the People's Supreme Court of China as an expanding Chinese national institution that has played a key role in the struggle for the rule of law in China. Within the unity of state administration and the requirements of the constitution, the court has negotiated the changing tension between politics and law through improvising new formats of interpretation and supervision in response to the changing priorities of revolution and market reform.

The personnel who operate remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) are crucial in the Air Force, but many in the RPA career field are dissatisfied, and it is difficult to train and retain enough pilots to meet the demand. To assist in building a healthy, sustainable RPA career field, RAND has developed a long-term RPA career field planning model. This report explains the model's main features, content, and data inputs and describes key technical aspects.

Applied Engineering Failure Analysis: Theory and Practice provides a point of reference for engineering failure analysis (EFA) cases, presenting a compilation of case studies covering a 35-year period, from the 1970s to 2012. This period spans the era from the time when slide rules were used routinely for engineering calculations, and when hard-copy photographs taken by film cameras were pasted onto typewritten sheets to make reports, to the present time when all these functions have become much less onerous through computer assistance. The cases are drawn from such diverse fields as mechanical engineering, metallurgy, mining, civil/structural engineering, electrical power systems, and radiation damage; the last two topics are quite scarce in current publications. It includes theoretical content that deals with useful topics in basic theory, material properties, failure mechanisms, EFA methodology, and applications. It provides high-quality illustrations throughout, which greatly helps to promote the understanding of the failure characteristics described. This book offers an integrated approach that serves as a useful first reference in the above topics, for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as for practicing engineers. The book provides a hands-on approach to EFA, which helps the user to develop an understanding of potential failure situations, to explore the consequences, and to better understand how to solve similar problems; it also helps users to develop their own techniques for most other engineering failure problems. The authors include a section on technical report writing, which will assist failure investigators in getting their findings across. They also present simple engineering calculations that may serve as illustrative examples, and typical problems and solutions are included at the end of each chapter.

How can Stir-Frying help you lose weight ? The word "fry" may have earned a negative reputation in the health and fitness department, but that is only because it is associated with the use of a lot of oil. Stir-frying, on the other hand, is an entirely different story. But first, let us define what it is. Stir-frying is a technique, which is common in Asia and is used to cook vegetables, soy-based products such as tofu, and meat that are cut into really small pieces quickly. It only requires the use of a little oil, if none at all, but if you want to cook stir-fried dishes, you do need to use a lot of common Asian spices and seasonings such as ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and Chinese rice wine or vinegar. The wok, which is a bowl-shaped pan, and the spatula are the most quintessential stir-frying tools used, but you can also use a deep skillet. Other highly important kitchen tools you will need are a sharp knife, a colander, and, occasionally, a pot where you'll cool noodles and rice. Here Is A Preview Of What You'll Find Inside... 8 Popular Asian Style Stir-Fried Vegetable Recipes 8 Different Varieties Of Stiry-Fried Rice and Noodles Recipes 6 Singapore Style Seafood Recipes 6 Stir-Fried Poultry And Meat Recipes And Much, much more

On 20 December 2017 and 10 April 2018 respectively, the Court of Justice of the European Union passed two landmark cases on the legal status of internet platform Uber. The Court established that Uber does not merely provide an app, but rather offers a full transport service. Without Uber there would be no market for non-professional drivers using their own vehicles. Moreover, the platform exercises a decisive influence over the conditions under which drivers provide their service. These rulings address the very core of several highly debated questions on the legal status of online intermediaries such as Uber, Airbnb and TaskRabbit. Is regulatory intervention needed to reap the potential benefits of the platform economy or to mitigate the potentially negative consequences of regulatory disruption? Can platforms be held liable for the proper execution of services provided by others? Does existing national regulation impose disproportionate market restrictions on innovators? Should we rethink labour protection aand social security to address the potential loss of social protection of non-standard workers? How can revenue law be improved to tackle elaborate (international) schemes to avoid direct and indirect taxation? Emerging platforms claim to create new market opportunities and to provide innovative solutions to improve social welfare. Conversely, the platform economy blurs established lines between traditional legal categories, such as business and consumer, personal and professional, and worker and contractor. Traditional regulation, which often focuses on balancing the interests of two contracting parties, is now confronted with the three-sided contractual relationship between a platform, a supplier and a user. In this book, a panel of international legal experts unravel the legal status of online intermediaries a thorny knot that legislators, judges and lawyers across the globe are facing.

This monograph is devoted to the study of multiscale model reduction methods from the point of view of multiscale finite element methods. Multiscale numerical methods have become popular tools for modeling processes with multiple scales. These methods allow reducing the degrees of freedom based on local offline computations. Moreover, these methods allow deriving rigorous macroscopic equations for multiscale problems without scale separation and high contrast. Multiscale methods are also used to design efficient solvers. This book offers a combination of analytical and numerical methods designed for solving multiscale problems. The book mostly focuses on methods that are based on multiscale finite element methods. Both applications and theoretical developments in this field are presented. The book is suitable for graduate students and researchers, who are interested in this topic.
