A timely and inspiring picture book biography of Jessica Govea Thorbourne, a Latina labor activist who worked alongside Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta to bring attention to the plight of migrant farmworkers. When Jessica Govea Thorbourne was four years old, she began picking crops in the California fields. One resilient girl, doing what was needed to help her family. As Jessica grew up, she saw her community struggling. Farm workers were being treated unfairly. But she was just one child. What could she do? Jessica stood up for justice and learned to organize for change, passing out flyers, speaking to crowds, and rallying other kids to petition for a neighborhood park. As an adult, she joined the United Farm Workers and played a pivotal role in the success of the California Grape Boycott. Though her journey started when she was very young, Jessica found her voice and empowered others to fight for their rights. Jessica showed that making a difference can start with just one child.

The dead still hate John Backman specializes in inexplicable phenomena. The weirder the better. So when he gets a letter from a terrified man describing an old log home with odd whisperings, shadows that come alive, and rooms that disappear, he can't resist the call. But the violence only escalates as soon as John arrives in the remote Alaskan village of Shida. Something dreadful happened there. Something monstrous. The shadows are closing in...and they're out for blood."Ancient evil, old school horror and modern style. Highly recommended " -- Jonathan Maberry"A must add to the library of anyone who loves a great ghost story " -- The Horror Bookshelf

A couple days later Julie spoke with Jessica about her sex views. "Are you narrow-minded about sex?" she began. "Not that I know," Jessica told her. "As a matter-of-fact, I was going to ask you that." "Why?" Julie asked innocently. At that point Jessica went into the bedroom and brought out a pink plastic dildo. As she held it out with the straps dangling, she looked at Julie knowingly. Julie burst out laughing. "You old Lesbian, you," she laughed at her college classmate. "I'm not a Lesbian at all," she explained. "And I'll tell you why I got this." Over coffee the girls chatted about their sexual experiences. "My boyfriend Roger has funny ideas," Jessica explained. When her boyfriend introduces her to all the pleasures to be had via the narrowest of apertures, Julie is keen to share her new found eagerness with her equally curious room-mate Jessica. It's not long before they are seducing every college jock, professor, vacation stud, and knowing sapphist, pushing every one of their wanton lusts to the very limit of orgiastic pleasure.

A Sumerian Chrestomathy: With the Collaboration of Silvano Votto and Jessica Baldwin
A Sumerian Chrestomathy by Konrad Volk has been written for beginners studying Sumerian within the academic curriculum. The volume contains 44 texts of varying contents: royal inscriptions, legal, and economic documents dating from the Early Dynastic (ca. 2500 B.C.) to the Old Babylonian Period (ca. 1750 B.C.) when Sumerian was no longer a spoken language. Some of the autographed texts are accompanied by a version in Neo-Assyrian script so that the student can learn the Neo-Assyrian sign forms which are of fundamental importance for the use of the sign list in this book and, in general, for most Assyriological sign lists. Each inscription can be studied with the help of the sign list, which is intentionally limited to the signs that occur in this book. Reference is given to the most recent works in the field by R. Borger and C. Mittermayer. Also included are individual and detailed glossaries: General Vocabulary; Divine Names; Personal Names; Place Names; Sacred Buildings; Year Dates; Year Names; Festivals. These glossaries not only quote the lexical items found in the inscriptions but also give the Akkadian equivalents for Sumerian words and refer - wherever necessary - to the most recent Sumerological literature.
