ALFREDO CASELLA: this is a name of a composer that unfortunately does not yet enjoy, in the musical world, the right place for importance in the history of music. In this new transcription I have decided to elaborate for the organ the last two (linked) movements of his Second Symphony op. 12 (1908-1910): the fourth, Finale, and the fifth, Epilogo (Epilogue). These are perhaps the movements more related to Mahler's world that includes both a march with a grotesque effect that heralds what will become characteristic much later in Shostakovich, as well a very expressive Adagio ending (as it happens for instance in Mahler's Third Symphony). Music that changes continuously and that in a very Mahlerian act, at the height of despair and drama, transcends in a triumphal solution.

From the moment Edward Rippington is born, everyone agrees that he's "special," although perhaps not in a good way. On day one, a surgeon tells his loving parents that their newborn son will probably not survive. If he lives any number of months or years, Edward will face severe physical and mental disabilities. The doctor even recommends that the boy be put into an institution. Instead, his parents take him home, sincerely believing they can give their child all he needs. Although his physical and emotional development lags, Edward defies the odds by thriving. He exhibits extraordinarily perceptive powers. As a baby, he cries only before something bad is about to happen. As a tiny toddler, he spends time alone in his room, all the while chattering to his invisible friend. The only explanation his parents can figure out is that Edward has a guardian angel guiding him and preparing him for an incredible destiny, but what destiny and why Edward? In this compelling fantasy, a child with Asperger's syndrome grows into a remarkable man who travels the world--and beyond--and fulfills a divine vocation that no one saw coming.

Reissued for the first time in a handsome A List edition, the Governor General’s Literary Award–winning collection from one of Canada’s most profoundly inventive and eminent poets, featuring an introduction by award-winning poet Sonnet L’Abbé.The poetry in the Governor General’s Award–winning collection Furious is charged with Erin Moure’s characteristic energy and wit as she explores the limits of pure reason and the language of power. There is, too, a fresh and often celebratory look at love, and, in an unusual finale, “The Acts,” Moure challenges us to explore a feminist aesthetic: of thinking, of the page, of working life and the possibility of poetry.
