A group of film majors attempt to film a horror movie over spring break for their final project. Despite the horror theme, Carrie is not a believer in the supernatural. This book proposes that it is not only states and international bodies that have a responsibility to take action toward mitigating climate change. Other collective agents, such as corporations, need to also come onboard. Additionally, the book argues that climate change is not solely a problem for collective agents, but also for individuals, as they are members of collectives and groups of several kinds. Therefore, framing climate change responsibility exclusively from either the collective or the individual perspective leaves out something crucial: how we all are influenced by the collectives we belong to and how, in turn, collectives are influenced by individuals. The focus of the book is on areas of climate change responsibility that are often left out of the picture or get too little attention in climate ethics, such as carbon inequality within countries. But why should any theoretical arguments about normative issues matter when we have a real-life climate crisis on our hands? Säde Hormio argues that ethical arguments have an important role in setting climate policy: they can highlight what values are at stake and help ground normative arguments in public deliberations.

Women and the Liberation Struggle in the Black South African Novel

The work is a study of selected novels by Black South African writers (1960-1984). The patriarchal nature of the society influences every facet of life in Africa. Male authors and critics dominate the literary field from the beginning. Thus roles of women are often glossed over in the study of literary texts. But prescriptive feminist studies encourages a focus on the contributions of women, which have largely been neglected in literary works of both male and female authors. It also encourages women to explore their experiences in creative writing. However, South African female writers do not write essentially about feminist issues because the Black man's oppression calls for an urgent response even on the part of writers. Women are critical players in the South African every day life; this fact plays out clearly in the exploration of the Black people's experiences in the creative works. Problem is the contributions of women to life in South Africa was mainly overlooked. This work fills the gap in the study of the Black South African novel. Women are shown to join hands with men to challenge Black peoples' oppression under apartheid.
