I will never forget THAT day, sitting in my lawyer's office going over the last remaining items in order to finalize my divorce. As she and I sat there, she continued to ask me all the "standard questions". I can still remember everything about that day, that hour, that minute. My heart was in so much pain, but the pain of staying the same was actually greater than the fear of change itself. As she looked at me and asked her last question, I became paralyzed. My lawyer said, "Susan, what would you like your name to be?" I can remember staring at her for a very long time as my mind went in circles as if I were on a fast moving merry-go-round. She continued, "Do you want to keep your last name as it is, or would you like to go back to your maiden name?" As she kept talking, all I could think about was that I went from being someone's daughter at 17 to someone's wife to someone's mother. I had never before been just me. As I looked up at her, tears filled my eyes and I asked, "Can I be Just Susan?" That day I knew that I had just spent a lifetime accepting every label that was ever placed on me and only the love I believed I was worthy of. You see, love takes off the masks that we fear we cannot live without, and the same masks we know can't live within. Life is about breaking our personal limits and outgrowing ourselves to live our BEST life. It is NOT what the world calls me, but what I choose to call me that matters. Today, I choose not any life, but an abundant life and I know 0ne thing for sure LIFE GOES ON

Both cold cases involve women named Susan strangled on the same day, one year apart. Last seen alive in one of the poorest neighbourhoods, their bodies are each dumped in one of the city's wealthiest areas. Riley senses a pattern between those murders and others pulled from a computer database of old death records. She must broadcast a warning soon, especially to viewers named Susan, because the deadly anniversary is very fast approaching. But not just lives are at stake - so are careers!

This work talks about a woman's heartrending search for her sister. Advancing with the suspense and deft reportage of the true-crime genre and fueled by the poignancy of a literary memoir, ""Finding Susan"" is Molly Hurley Moran's pointed exploration of the disappearance of her sister and her family's descent into the surreal world of psychics and detectives they once dismissed as the stuff of Lifetime movies. Susan Hurley Harrison disappeared from upscale Ruxton, Maryland, on August 5, 1994. Her body was discovered in the woods of northern Maryland two years later and her death was ruled a homicide. Although Susan's case drew substantial media attention - including a spot on Unsolved Mysteries - no one, to date, has ever been charged with her murder. In piecing together a mosaic of Susan's final years, Moran grew to believe her sister was a victim of domestic violence. An academic by trade, Moran employs a scholar's precision and razor-sharp feminist analysis in this valiant effort to come to terms with Susan's life and death and to understand her sister in a way she did not when she was alive. ""Finding Susan"" refers to both the search for Susan's body and the search for the formative forces of her life. Mirroring elements of high-profile cases from Laci Peterson to Nicole Brown Simpson, ""Finding Susan"" is one woman's chronicle of loss and remembrance that arrestingly details the helplessness experienced by families of missing persons and calls critical attention to our alarming blindness to domestic abuse. Including appendixes of domestic violence resources, ""Finding Susan"" serves as a guide for concerned family members and friends of at-risk women to help identify the warning signs of domestic abuse. Thirty-six illustrations are a powerful complement to the volume.

My Dear Brother, -- I can no longer refuse myself the pleasure of profiting by your kind invitation when we last parted of spending some weeks with you at Churchhill, and, therefore, if quite convenient to you and Mrs. Vernon to receive me at present, I shall hope within a few days to be introduced to a sister whom I have so long desired to be acquainted with. My kind friends here are most affectionately urgent with me to prolong my stay, but their hospitable and cheerful dispositions lead them too much into society for my present situation and state of mind; and I impatiently look forward to the hour when I shall be admitted into Your delightful retirement. I long to be made known to your dear little children, in whose hearts I shall be very eager to secure an interest. I shall soon have need for all my fortitude, as I am on the point of separation from my own daughter. . . .
Lady Susan (Esprios Classics)
Jane Austen (16 December 1775 - 18 July 1817) was an English novelist known primarily for her six major novels, which interpret, critique and comment upon the British landed gentry at the end of the 18th century. Austen's plots often explore the dependence of women on marriage in the pursuit of favourable social standing and economic security. Her works critique the novels of sensibility of the second half of the 18th century and are part of the transition to 19th-century literary realism. Her use of biting irony, along with her realism, humour, and social commentary, have long earned her acclaim among critics, scholars, and popular audiences alike. With the publication of Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814) and Emma (1816), she achieved success as a published writer.

How to Pursue the Man of Your Desires and Create Disaster Beautiful, flirtatious, and recently widowed, Lady Susan Vernon seeks a new and advantageous marriage for herself, and at the same time attempts to push her daughter into marriage with a man she detests. Through a series of crafty maneuvers, she fills her calendar with invitations for extended visits with unsuspecting relatives and acquaintances in pursuit of her grand plan. As the plot unfolds, characters are revealed and the suspense builds - all through letters exchanged among Lady Susan, her family, friends, and enemies. Described by her rivals as the "most accomplished coquette in England," amply endowed with "captivating deceit," Susan proves to be a remarkable figure, devoid of any redeeming qualities, whose intrigues and devious machinations ultimately lead to disastrous results. Lady Susan is a magnificently crafted (and frequently provocative) novel of Regency customs and manners.
