Why on earth is there a van with "Mover-Matt and the Boys" written on the side standing in front of Stella's home porch? She's in for the biggest shock of her life right before starting school. She's sad to leave her familiar neighbourhood. Luckily the kindhearted teacher of Stella's afternoon club understands how upset the girl is about having to leave. But Berry Bay isn't half as bad after all. Stella soon befriends with the two brothers from next door. They have the habit of sliding through a chink in the fence to play in Stella's garden. The strict teacher turns out to be fair, and Stella even makes it through the casserole days. The classroom's old harmonium wobbles, as Stella and the teacher find the common tune.
Tiina Pirhonen kertoo ryhmän alkuun panneesta aidosta uteliaisuudesta improvisaatiota kohtaan. Kirjan on kirjoittanut toimittajana työskentelevä kulttuuriantropologi Meri Parkkinen.

Stella is making up for lost time. She’s a newly single mother in her early thirties. She’s never really dated and the apps didn’t really exist last time she was single. Her ex has her daughter every Thursday night so she’s free one night a week to work her way through every dating archetype she missed out on in her twenties. There’s the Gentleman for dinner dates. The Poet for deep conversation. And someone her friends are calling the Hummingbird (he’s full of energy) but who Lou quietly thinks of as more of a Labrador. Dom starts out as the No Strings Attached Guy. He’s not looking for a girlfriend and he’s tired of disappointing women who want him to settle down so he’s completely up front about it. But Lou doesn’t jump into bed with him and Dom soon becomes The Friend instead, spending time with her and her daughter whenever she’s not on a date. Stella is so busy not looking for love on Thursday nights, that she’s at risk of missing love when it comes knocking on another day of the week…

Stella remembered Mad Cassandra Browning's words: There is danger, Stella Ryman. She shoved a hand deep into her pocket and wrapped her fingers around the keys to every door in Fairmount Manor Care Home. What had Thelma asked for? A real crime. This morning, Stella could smell crime, as clearly as the aromas of breakfast that wafted along the twisting Fairmount Manor corridors. Octogenarian sleuth Stella Ryman returns to investigate a perplexing care home mystery that precipitates the disappearance of her closest friend, the fragile and fierce Thelma Hu. The Greek Chorus spells out Thelma's doom: "Those who leave Fairmount seldom return." Stella's only hope to find Thelma and bring her home, is to escape Fairmount Manor and head out alone, armed with her wiles and the resilience born of long experience - through the big city that she never thought she'd see again.
