Plotseling zit ik keihard huilend achter het stuur van mijn auto. Wat is er in hemels-naam aan de hand? Ik word niet aangehouden door de politie, rijd niet door het rode licht, er komt geen rook onder de voorklep vandaan. Wat is het dan? Het blijkt het begin van een nieuw leven.Een nieuw leven klinkt als roze wolk en beschuit met muisjes maar bij mij was het een donkere onweerswolk die blijkbaar nooit meer verdwijnt. Totaal onkundig over de situatie werd ik de GGZ, de Geestelijke Gezondheidszorg ingegooid. Vragen als: 'Hoort dit erbij? Is dit wel normaal? Ben ik nu echt gek geworden' worden in dit boekje behandeld. Vragen die ik ook van mede-pati nten hoorde. Eigenlijk bleek ik helemaal niet origineel met mijn klachten. Sterker nog: ik was er n van dertien in een dozijn. Niet speciaal, welnee, totaal niet. Terwijl je dat toch een beetje hoopt. Misschien kan ik met dit boek dan toch een beetje anders zijn dan de rest. Marianne. In dit boek vertelt Marianne Vulperhorst openhartig en met de nodige zelfspot over haar leven met depressie. En over de, soms moeizame, hulp die ze krijgt. Het geeft een inkijkje in hoe leven met een depressie is. En het geeft tips hoe je dus NIET met iemand met een depressie moet omgaan. Alle oprechte zorg vanuit haar therapeuten ten spijt zijn de twee belangrijkste therapie n in haar leven muziekmaken en hondje Gijs die, omdat hij nu eenmaal dagelijks zorg en aandacht nodig heeft, haar er iedere keer weer doorheen sleept.
