The early seventeenth century finds Britain in a state of flux. After years of stability under Queen Elizabeth I, the accession of the Scot James I moves the island further into the ranks of Protestant countries, especially with James's sponsorship of the English-language King James Bible. James's son, Charles I, however, is married to a French Catholic. Lacking Elizabeth's skillful statesmanship, Charles tries to rule as a Divine Right monarch, but Parliament is having none of it, and many fear he will try to reinstate Catholicism.Against this backdrop, we meet rich, spoiled Andrew Selden, in line to be a Lord on his father's death, who is just as determined as Charles to have his own way and will soon discover that he cannot. At Chapman Hall, seat of the same family since the Norman Conquest, a new generation is coming into its own. Judith Waldby and Richard Chapman seem destined for a fairytale life together in the old manor house. But the country is moving inexorably toward civil war, and the lives of many are about to change, not only in Britain but in the American colonies.
In this heartfelt story of friendship, a young girl is determined to save her most unlikely pet. Beatrice desperately wants a pet of her own. Her mom has other ideas. No dog. No cat. No hedgehog. They finally reach a compromise, and Beatrice gets ... a Venus flytrap. Being a good sport, Beatrice makes the best of things. She gives her new friend a name, Barb. She does all the things with Barb that good pet owners do, such as taking walks and playing fetch. Only, now, despite all the love and care, Barb is starting to look sick, with black spots on her leaves and some parts of her turning mushy. Beatrice knows she has to find a way to save Barb. But how? The debut picture book from author Kate Jenks Landry offers a universal and powerful message about how to take care of those we love. It also celebrates differences, unique friendships and what makes each of us special (like how Barb needs to eat bugs to survive ). This story has strong curriculum connections to social-emotional learning and offers excellent character education lessons on caring, perseverance and responsibility. Vivian Mineker's illustrations are imbued with the soft greens of plant life and beautifully convey the warmth and affection at the heart of the story.
Junie misses her sister - and their summers together before Anna got sick. When Junie's mum and dad leave her with Nan and Pop for the summer, they promise they'll be back to get her "the minute Anna's well enough." Then they hand her Anna's camera with a note that reads, "In case you find Edmund." Over the course of the long summer, Junie spends her days floating in the lake, fishing with Pop and taking lots of pictures - though none of Edmund, the elusive giant turtle. Edmund will have to wait, just like Junie's waiting, until Junie finally gets to see her sister again.A heartfelt tribute to the love between siblings, this poignant exploration of a child's inner world during uncertain times is perfect for any young person dealing with an ill family member or any type of uncertainty.

Written to members and friends of Christian church congregations, this collection of letters is not just for those of faith. The letters were penned from 1963 to 2003 and are organized by topic and date. Many of the letters reference news events of the time, but Dr. Landry's theology and philosophy of life are universal and speak to concerns in our world that remain relevant even today. The selected letters are meant to challenge people by broadening their perception of God and humanity. Dr. Landry was influenced by the leaders of his generation: Gandhi, John F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King, Jr. These writings reflect his belief that faith should not be a retreat from the world, but should be demonstrated by acts of kindness, speaking out for social justice, and standing up for equality. Bob had always talked of publishing his words but he never found the time before his death in 2015. This is the first book to be published on behalf of Dr. Landry by his three daughters and his wife of 58 years.

The book was intended for only my stories. But later, I thought what a great idea to help others tell theirstories as well. This book was fun to write for all of usand has also brought back those haunted memories wewanted to forget. We also want to share with others thatyou not alone, and the paranormal are real, and they arealso sharing the same plain with us. Like it or not, theyare here in our natural world, so we need to get used to itand accept it.

In a global competition between continued harvesting of fossil fuels and the slower-paced exploitation of renewable energy, which side will win, and how? In a dangerous world of big business, big government, and greedy scoundrels, up against a decades-long march of peaceful activists for renewable energy, who arises as the resolute savior? Book Reviews: "The project is not about renewable energy; it is, instead, as it is named, about advanced energy."Landry doesn't miss a detail of Mack's top-secret work on a team of experts trying to solve the energy problem. The ultimate result is eco-fiction with a streak of activism. Landry generates urgency to act and speak out against those sacrificing the earth to gain profits and power.book review by Michelle JacobsThe US Review of Books
