Stella Justintime - Das Geheimnis des Sonnenhügels
Manchmal liegen die gr ten Geheimnisse nicht in der Ferne - sondern direkt vor unserer Haust r. Auf einem H gel. In einem Dorf. In uns selbst.
Stella Justintime and the Secret of the Sun Hill
Sometimes the greatest secrets are not far away-they are right on our doorstep. On a hill. In a village. Within ourselves. When Stella Justintime feels a strange tingling sensation in the meadow one summer evening, she has no idea that her life is about to change forever. The hill behind her house-an inconspicuous place above the Rhine valley-begins to vibrate as if the earth itself wants to speak to her. And in the midst of this strange whispering of light and grass, Justin, her friend from another world, returns with his little spaceship "Libelle." Together, they discover a trail that leads into humanity's past-to a secret hub in the Black Forest, to a forgotten oracle in Freiolsheim, and finally to the starry world of Lyra. There, Stella learns that not only is the earth awakening, but so is she. That home is more than just a place. That lines run through countries, hearts, and times. And that there are places that connect the world. When the sky opens above the sun hill and beings of light appear, it becomes clear: Freiolsheim was never just any village. It is the key. A novel about home and hope. About courage and friendship. About nature that speaks and stars that answer. A magical journey that begins in the heart of the Black Forest - and continues in the soul of every reader. For all who believe in miracles. And for those who want to rediscover them.

How Stella Learned to Talk: The Groundbreaking Story of the World's First Talking Dog
INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERAn incredible, revolutionary true story and surprisingly simple guide to teaching your dog to talk from speech-language pathologist Christina Hunger, who has taught her dog, Stella, to communicate using simple paw-sized buttons associated with different words. When speech-language pathologist Christina Hunger first came home with her puppy, Stella, it didn't take long for her to start drawing connections between her job and her new pet. During the day, she worked with toddlers with significant delays in language development and used Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices to help them communicate. At night, she wondered: If dogs can understand words we say to them, shouldn't they be able to say words to us? Can dogs use AAC to communicate with humans?Christina decided to put her theory to the test with Stella and started using a paw-sized button programmed with her voice to say the word "outside" when clicked, whenever she took Stella out of the house. A few years later, Stella now has a bank of more than thirty word buttons, and uses them daily either individually or together to create near-complete sentences. How Stella Learned to Talk is part memoir and part how-to guide. It chronicles the journey Christina and Stella have taken together, from the day they met, to the day Stella "spoke" her first word, and the other breakthroughs they've had since. It also reveals the techniques Christina used to teach Stella, broken down into simple stages and actionable steps any dog owner can use to start communicating with their pets.Filled with conversations that Stella and Christina have had, as well as the attention to developmental detail that only a speech-language pathologist could know, How Stella Learned to Talk will be the indispensable dog book for the new decade.

Focusing on the vital role of literature in the development of the artistic practice of Frank Stella (b. 1936), this insightful book looks at four transformative series of prints made between 1984 and 1999. Each of these series is named after a literary work—the Had Gadya (a playful song traditionally sung at the end of the Passover Seder), Italian Folktales, compiled by Italo Calvino, Moby-Dick by Herman Melville, and The Dictionary of Imaginary Places by Alberto Manguel and Gianni Guadalupi. This investigation offers a critical new perspective on Stella: an examination of his interdisciplinary process, literary approach, and interest in the lessons of art history as crucial factors for his artistic development as a printmaker. Mitra Abbaspour, Calvin Brown, and Erica Cooke examine how Stella’s dynamic engagement with literature paralleled the artist’s experimentation with unconventional printmaking techniques and engendered new ways of representing spatial depth to unleash the narrative potential of abstract forms.Distributed for the Princeton University Art MuseumExhibition Schedule:Princeton University Art Museum (05/19/18–09/23/18)Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville (10/06/18–01/13/19)

How Stella Got Her Groove Back

How Stella Got Her Groove Back is full of Terry McMillan's signature humor, heart, and insight. More than a love story, it is ultimately a novel about how a woman saves her own life--and what she must risk to do it. Stella Payne is forty-two, divorced, a high-powered investment analyst, mother of eleven-year-old Quincy- and she does it all. In fact, if she doesn't do it, it doesn't get done, from Little League carpool duty to analyzing portfolios to folding the laundry and bringing home the bacon. She does it all well, too, if her chic house, personal trainer, BMW, and her loving son are any indication. So what if there's been no one to share her bed with lately, let alone rock her world? Stella doesn't mind it too much; she probably wouldn't have the energy for love--and all of love's nasty fallout--anyway. But when Stella takes a spur-of-the-moment vacation to Jamaica, her world gets rocked to the core--not just by the relaxing effects of the sun and sea and an island full of attractive men, but by one man in particular. He's tall, lean, soft-spoken, Jamaican, smells of citrus and the ocean--and is half her age. The tropics have cast their spell and Stella soon realizes she has come to a cataclysmic juncture: not only must she confront her hopes and fears about love, she must question all of her expectations, passions, and ideas about life and the way she has lived it.

In addition to his achievements in abstract painting and sculpture, Frank Stella has also made major contributions to the history of the modern print. An exploration of the artist’s innovative use of the medium, Frank Stella: Prints reveals the intimate relationships between Stella’s prints and his works in other mediums, demonstrating how Stella blasted a hole in the traditional tools and aesthetics of printmaking with works of compelling complexity and beauty. Frank Stella: Prints registers in chronological sequence more than 300 editioned prints, reproduced in full color, including works in series and portfolios. Related works in other mediums--paintings, metal reliefs, maquettes and sculpture--are also illustrated for comparison. Complete documentation of each print offers a privileged insight into the creative process behind these works of art. An introductory essay, prefaces to each series and comments on individual prints provide background information, analysis and interpretation. Frank Stella: Prints also features an illustrated chronology, a glossary tailored to Stella’s practice, a bibliography and an index. Soon after arriving in New York in the late 1950s, Frank Stella (born 1936) came to prominence with his striped Black Paintings and shaped canvases. His early painting project reduced the medium to its most fundamental elements and introduced a key concept of Minimalism at an early date: “What you see is what you see.” But it was not long before Stella, a restlessly experimental worker, abandoned austerity for brighter colors, irregular shapes, rougher textures and gestural brushstrokes.
