Amy Foster"" is a short story by Joseph Conrad. Conrad's story, told in a realist style, is deeply infused with irony and symbolism. The bay looms behind the quiet life of the village in the first lines of the story, representing the presence of the rest of the world that the townspeople cannot quite keep out. Conrad, heavily influenced by the adventure tale, uses the expected outlines of the story of a castaway washed up in a new land to tell a much darker, ironic story. Conrad's own history as a Polish immigrant to this area of England clearly influenced "Amy Foster," which highlights failures of communication between people of different ethnicities and between men and women, as well as concerns about the author's ability to communicate with his audience.

Come share our vacation touring the western and central United States in our old Tiffin Allegro Motorhome in 2021. Just as the world was winding down from the COVID junk, we bought an old RV to take a most memorable summer tour. Starting from the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, we traveled west through Washington, northern Idaho and western Montana, then headed south to Utah. Besides visiting with friends and relatives, we got to hike up to Delicate Arch in Arches National Park near Moab, UT. We continued down to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, then headed east towards Missouri. We got to visit with lots of family along the way, plus met some amazing people along the trails and such. Branson, MO became a special treat with its variety of performances. We headed down into Arkansas to see the John Michael Talbot Hermitage, then headed north towards Topeka. The eastern bound part of our journey ended when we turned west towards little Julesburg, CO, then north to Mount Rushmore, then west to the Pacific Coast. Come share in our many adventures on this 7,500 mile trek that became a relief valve from the pent-up year 2020 became. Enjoy
