When Cream broke up in 1968 it was by no means a foregone conclusion that it would be Eric Clapton who would enjoy continued commercial success. After all, it was Jack Bruce who had the looks, and who co-wrote and sang all the band's major hits, including "Sunshine of Your Love", "I Feel Free" and "White Room". But he was a singular talent who wanted to be a pioneer, not just a pop star, and he was never happy resting on his reputation. Cream split in their prime but their influence endured, and when they reformed in 2005 tickets were selling for nearly GBP 2000 on e-bay. In the 40 years since Cream split Bruce has continued his musical adventures with the likes of John McLaughlin, Billy Cobham, Carla Bley and Mick Taylor, never quite achieving the success and recognition he deserves. It has been an often troubled life - heroin addiction, management rip-offs, family tragedy, and a failed liver transplant, all of which he speaks about frankly in this book, telling a story that is sometimes funny, sometimes bleak, and always honest.
Adam Bruce Thomson (1885-1976) was one of the most quietly impactful artists of his generation. Born in Edinburgh, he was among the earliest intake of students to train at the newly established Edinburgh College of Art. He went on to have a long-running teaching career at the College, supporting and encouraging successive cohorts. In October 1969, Bruce Lee embarked on a publicity tour for the MGM movie Marlowe in which he had a small co-starring role as hired thug 'Winslow Wong' beside the famous Hollywood actor James Garner. The ten-day nationwide tour had stop-overs in Texas and Florida, the east coast to New York before finally heading westward-bound towards Los Angeles via San Francisco. During the tour, Lee stopped in Charlotte, North Carolina, to participate in a television appearance for local station WSOC. MGM had approached local Taekwondo Grandmaster Reg Smith to assist Lee during demonstrations on the show. The renowned Grandmaster had also managed to shoot a roll of TRI-X still film during the television performance, the only surviving photographic record of that historic Bruce Lee appearance on Friday, October 24th. Undiscovered for over fifty years, fans worldwide can now witness these historical images of the worlds greatest martial artist for the very first time.
Sydney has been under siege by giant carnivorous animals from the outback for thirty years. In a 1950s-era Australia, Bruce Buckley believes a stone his uncle had taken from Ayers Rock was responsible for unleashing vast magical changes in the wildlife causing most of the country to be overrun. Sydney was only saved due to its new animal allies: boxing kangaroos, diprotodon-sized wombats, friendly koalas, secretive platypuses and laughing kookaburras. Bruce journeys between the various animal groups as they try to work out the cause for the current crisis. Travelling around Sydney, he explores this city which has undergone many changes since the old days: kangaroos hop along the streets, where they are ridden by humans-the main method of transportation now. These kangaroos hold crowded boxing matches at the SCG, the brutality of which Bruce witnesses personally. Many humans head out on expeditions into the dangerous lands outside the city, and Bruce crosses paths with one of the worst of these rough characters: Outback Jack, organising his own quest to find some lost opals. While doing so, Jack has his own problems with an atrociously biased kangaroo court and other leaders. Koalas are now a part of human society, holding important positions, and living throughout the city as the two species work together to try and stay safe from outback foes. Meanwhile wombats have taken over Sydney's underground stations and constructed many other burrows, holding duels to settle disputes, and struggling to fight off underground enemies. Kookaburras nest along the Harbour Bridge, busy conducting aerial patrols against enemy snakes and birds of prey. Platypus live secretly underwater, and are difficult to contact. Sydney's beaches are now heavily guarded against attacks from giant creatures of the ocean. With some distrust and different motivations, Bruce and Jack join forces, visiting the different animal groups, while trying to find out more about the magic surrounding the stone from Ayers Rock.

This book is not concerned with Jeet Kune Do. That is the final product of Sijo Bruce Lee's studies. He did secret researches that he did not want to divulge, because he saw it fit to conceal the sources of his knowledge that led him to the creation of his own personal system. There are many excellent books on the market that treat Jeet Kune Do in terms of fighting, scientific and philosophical, but this book is not about that. Instead, this book concerns Sijo Bruce Lee's Gung Fu root. This is, therefore, dedicated to the true connoisseurs of Gung Fu. For this, I did not limit my research to the final aspect of Jeet Kune Do, but I have also investigated, studied, and reported the stories of the different lineages that Sijo Bruce studied in books or with masters; all experiences that he did not reveal but took part in his culture and his martial background. This book is the result of my many years of practice and analyses on Sijo Bruce's martial system, which I have acquired a thorough framework that flows from anthropological research from documents, translations of Chinese manuscripts, old Chinese and American magazine articles, photographs, drawings, and even interviews and news reports from those who knew him personally. I will treat all of these as part of a whole, telling Sijo Bruce Lee's experiences and noting the sources of information. Moreover, regarding some of his original photos taken fifty years ago, I wanted to make a living and colorful image by changing the background of the pictures, giving the reader a heady Bruce.
