Personal Christianity A Science: The Doctrines Of Jacob Boehme The God Taught Philosopher 1919
Personal Christianity A Science: The Doctrines Of Jacob Boehme The God Taught Philosopher 1919 is a book that delves into the teachings and doctrines of the German mystic and theologian, Jacob Boehme. Written in 1919, the book aims to provide readers with a comprehensive understanding of Boehme's ideas and beliefs, which are centered around the concept of personal Christianity as a science.Boehme believed that true Christianity was not just a matter of faith, but a science that could be studied and understood through the use of reason and intuition. He believed that the key to understanding Christianity was to develop a personal relationship with God, which could only be achieved through inner spiritual experiences and revelations. In this book, Boehme's teachings are explored in depth, including his views on the nature of God, the role of Christ, the importance of spiritual rebirth, and the relationship between the divine and the material world. The book also includes a detailed analysis of Boehme's writing style and philosophical approach, as well as a discussion of his influence on later thinkers and religious movements.Overall, Personal Christianity A Science: The Doctrines Of Jacob Boehme The God Taught Philosopher 1919 is a fascinating exploration of one of the most important and influential Christian thinkers of the early modern period. It provides readers with a deep understanding of Boehme's ideas and their relevance to contemporary religious and philosophical debates. This Is A New Release Of The Original 1850 Edition. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. "Blame it or praise it, there is no denying the wild horse in us." Virginia Woolf, Jacob's Room Jacob's Room is the third novel by Virginia Woolf, first published on 26 October 1922. The novel centres, in a very ambiguous way, around the life story of the protagonist Jacob Flanders, and is presented entirely by the impressions other characters have of Jacob (except for those times when we do indeed get Jacob's perspective). Thus, although it could be said that the book is primarily a character study and has little in the way of plot or background, the narrative is constructed as a void in place of the central character, if indeed the novel can be said to have a 'protagonist' in conventional terms. Motifs of emptiness and absence haunt the novel and establish its elegiac feel. Jacob is described to us, but in such indirect terms that it would seem better to view him as an amalgamation of the different perceptions of the characters and narrator. He does not exist as a concrete reality, but rather as a collection of memories and sensations. Literary significance The novel is a departure from Woolf's earlier two novels, The Voyage Out (1915) and Night and Day (1919), which are more conventional in form and narration. The work is seen as an important modernist text; its experimental form is viewed as a progression of the innovative writing style Woolf presented in her earlier collection of short fiction titled Monday or Tuesday (1919).
