Ma l'energumeno, le sue ire e i suoi traffici sarebbero niente, se non avessi una collega di nome Regina e di cognome scriteriata, che tutte le volte, grazie alla sua stupida convinzione di essere una detective e di poter risolvere i casi, ci fa quasi morire ammazzate. Che se il primo episodio di questa serie aveva bussato alla sua porta, il secondo nato da una specie di magagna avvenuta in un parcheggio che, come per la protagonista della storia, non le fa onore per niente. Una volta riuscita a riprendersi la vettura e uscire dal parcheggio, non le rimasta altra consolazione che affidare l'intera vicenda allo spirito di Emma Molestini, la quale, come possiamo immaginare, non ne stata affatto felice. Ma si sa, non si diventerebbe protagonisti se le storie da interpretare non fossero rognose.

Study of `artist novellas' of 19th-century German woman writer. One hundred years ago Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach (1830-1916) enjoyed within German-speaking countries the stature of a George Eliot, and her style and thematic interests resembled those of her English contemporary. Today, however,her fame has faded, and she is mainly known only to specialists, partly because her 'canon' has shrunk to a few prose works which are more reconciliatory than critical, falsely suggesting her to be a passive, conventional writer:her 'happy endings' have diverted her readers from the critical messages beneath the surface. By close analysis of a variety of works spanning the whole of her career, The Guises of Modesty calls attention to the author'sbeginnings in the genres of drama and satire and shows her to be considerably more complex and abrasive than most literary scholars have assumed; Professor Rose argues that only by censoring or disguising the female artist, a prominent figure in her satirical writings, was Ebner able to conceal her 'unwomanly' aspirations to become a recognized author. She explores Ebner's frequently ambivalent attitudes towards other writers whose work influenced her own,including Schiller, her preoccupation with cultural harbingers of modernity, such as Nietzsche and Ibsen, and parallels with other prominent literary women, such as George Eliot and Louise von François. The book covers Japanese, Islamic, Scandinavian, Russian, German, Spanish, as well as other aspects, and studies different disciplinary backgrounds of the honest merchant, such as philosophical, economic, neuroethical, sociological and literary ones.The concept of the honest merchant has a long tradition in business ethics. In the Hanseatic League and in medieval Italy, the ideal of the honest businessman was taught since the late Middle Ages. It originated during a time when travelling merchants were often regarded with a sceptical eye. The honest merchants of their time however held clear principles in their business and took responsibility for their community. In later times, the religious notions of the concept lost their pivotal place to reason and morality. This book goes beyond the tradition of discussing business ethics in association with concepts from the Hanseatic League and medieval Italy, and puts the central concept of business ethics in a much greater perspective.
