Race and Slavery in the Contemporary World

Race and Slavery in the Contemporary World

Race and Slavery in the Contemporary World begins with a message the author wrote to five prominent Black public figures. In the message, the author brought out several facts she had observed, including the way the government was not obeying its laws. Another major observation was how Amendment IX of the Bill of Rights was being broken. The Constitutional Laws of the US are intended to limit government power and put constraints on it, just as legislative laws are meant to constrain the citizens. This structure creates the rule of law that is essential to enjoying freedoms. The first part of the work is devoted to reflections on the value of a Black woman and is followed by reflections on why the Blacks were freed from slavery. Among the topics and issues examined are the definition of equality in America, changes in ownership of slaves, the impact of voting, and punishment for disobedience."These reflections are a part of voicing my grievances or complaints... My reflections might seem quite legal and historical. That is because I have found that at the root of the problems that I mention, including my own, is a law at the mercy of uncontrolled political thinking"."Race And Slavery In The Contemporary World" is an intensely thought-provoking work. The reader will find themselves asking the questions it raises, such as "Why have we Blacks] failed to negotiate our freedoms?" The book explores insightful topics such as the philosopher Rousseau's description of the slavery paradox and enforcement of punishment. The more near to home topics such as harassment and impact on Black women are also well covered.Race and Slavery in the Contemporary World contains such topics concerning the French philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau, such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau;Rousseau's Description of the Slavery Paradox; Definition of Slavery on Rousseau's Views; Analogy of Rousseau's Idea: An Agreement; The Social Contract: Rousseau's Solution and Active Agreement, Rousseau's Ideas as Practiced in the Contemporary World: People Participation, and Rousseau Requirement of Legitimacy for Slavery. It also looks at the philosopher of political science, Alexis de Tocqueville. In addition, it looks at the American Promise as regards to a topic, such as The American Way: The most surprising Historical Change. It considers historically reported events up to our present moment.

The Little Lake Girl was two years old the first time she was admitted to hospital with a severe ear infection. Her lived experience carved out a 45-year career as a nurse. Her ancestral roots grounded her and she grew stronger over seven decades. Her lifelong passion for learning became the shawl that protected her from the winds of change. Over time she realized our bodies are in a certain place and time, but our minds can be anywhere at any time. In her memoir she likens life to making and eating a pie. The first one-third of the pie is the early years of selfdiscovery, living in your mind's eye, in the womb, and the school years, and before you know it, you're finished school, getting a job, starting relationships. It seems like there is still a lot of pie left. The second one-third is the middle years of making a commitment, working your way through career transitions, having and raising children. You're very busy and you tell yourself, "Don't worry, there is still lots of pie left." The last one-third is all about creating a legacy, retirement is looming, your children are having children. It is important to acknowledge that soon there will be no more pie. You realize the need to savour those last bites and share the recipe with your family, friends and anyone who cares to take a journey through the heart and mind to capture the essence of their soul.

A continuation of my God in My Life journey, plus eleven short stories prompted by people in stores during book signings, recreated by the author.God for all people; some fact, some fiction.Journeying as a disciple of God for over two and a half years passed by in a heartbeat. The public was interested in my unusual premonitions, visions, dreams and knowings. Many people wished to share their own personal God encounters with me. The Holy Spirit propelled me onward in faith and commitment. I had related my stories, and now was the perfect time to reveal God's work in the lives of other humans.I briefly jotted down their words in my diary after the meeting. Then I decided the words and stories were meant to be treated in a special way. I didn't know most of the people or places personally, so I could obscurely create the stories leading up to the God moment. My mind recreated the person who I either already subtly knew or had just met, and I could visualize what may have transpired. God had revealed something very important to them, and now I can pass it forward to others. Enjoy this variety of woe, love, loss and celebration tales

In the context of the 'global war on terror', the issue of security has come to affect more and more intimate elements of people's everyday lives. This is the starting point of this interdisciplinary collection, which focuses on how the line between security and insecurity is negotiated through changing concepts of 'community' and 'citizenship'.
