Finally--A delightful book series that gives kids a chance to practice towards mastery of new phonics rules before introducing the next set of rules. Fun and engaging books that are perfect for phonics readers and dyslexic learners. Start anywhere in the series, according to your child's reading level. Let's GO Books have less text and build confidence towards the same title Chapter Book. Jan says to her pal Quin, "Would you like to see my mom's hot rod? I call it the 'Bonk Punk." Sight Words: a, go, goes, her, his, like, my, of, says, see, she, should, the, they, to, wants, would, you Approximately 160 total words This is a Step 3 Let's GO book. The DOG ON A LOG Books series are for phonics readers and dyslexic learners. They are Decodable books which means a child who has been taught the phonics rules and the limited sight words in that book can sound them out and read them. The words used reflect the inclusion of 1 to 3 new phonics rules in each step. There are five books at each step. The chapter books are written in a chapter format with one picture in most chapters. They are longer, have more detail, and sometimes offer more complexity than the Let's GO Books. They're great for practicing known and new phonics rules. They're also just fun reading. DOG ON A LOG Let's GO Books are shorter versions of DOG ON A LOG Chapter books. Let's GO books tell the same stories with about 8 pictures and only a few sentences per page. They're perfect as an introduction to the new phonics rules or simply for fun reading for younger kids. DOG ON A LOG Phonics Progression Step 1 Consonants, primary sounds Short vowels Digraphs: ch, sh, th, wh, ck 2 and 3 sound words Possessive 's Step 2 Bonus letters (f, l, s, z after short vowel) "all" -s suffix Step 3 ang, ing, ong, ung, ank, ink, onk, unk Step 4 Consonant Blends to make 4 sound words 3 and 4 sound words ending in -lk, -sk Step 5 Digraph blends -nch to make 3 and 4 sound words Silent e, including "-ke" Step 6 ild, old, olt, ind, ost Step 7 5 sounds in a closed syllable word plus suffix -s (crunch, slumps) 3 letter blends and up to 6 sounds in a closed syllable word (script, spring) Step 8 Two syllable words with 2 closed syllables, not blends (sunset, chicken, unfit) Paperbacks have black and white images. It is the intention of this book to reveal the truth of the 144,000 mentioned in Revelation 7, but the chief object of this publication is to bring about a reformation among God's people. The truth herein contained is divided into seven sections, giving proof from seven different angles, to prevent any doubt or confusion. This subject is made clear by the use of the Bible and the writings given by the Spirit of Prophecy. The truth revealed here is of great importance to the church just now because of the foretold danger which God's people are soon to meet. It calls for decided action on the part of the believers to separate themselves from all worldlings and worldliness; to anchor themselves on the Solid Rock by obedience to all the truth known to this denomination, if we must escape the great ruin. "The Lord's voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name: Hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it." Micah 6:9.

Have you ever wondered what goes on with students in school? On the other hand, how are your children struggling or coping in the school environment? You might be surprised to know that it might not be what you envision. As you read this book, you may discover that teaching a student today is not an easy task due to student behavior. After ten years of substituting students of all grades, the author has formulated an opinion about the behavior patterns he observed over time and has documented them in his book. In this book, you will have an opportunity to visit some first-hand experiences with behavior and how it may affect our students' minds each day in class. The information presented is what he perceived as an attitude problem. He discusses how students use different forms of attitudes to disrupt the classroom and has assimilated the methods used by unruly students to turn the good students into a boisterous group through the following five sections. Attitudes Reports to teachers General Thoughts Conclusion Civility

Bitter the Chastening Rod follows in the footsteps of the first collection of African American biblical interpretation, Stony the Road We Trod (1991). Nineteen Africana biblical scholars contribute cutting-edge essays reading Jesus, criminalization, the enslaved, and whitened interpretations of the enslaved. They present pedagogical strategies for teaching, hermeneutics, and bible translation that center Black Lives Matter and black culture. Biblical narratives, news media, and personal stories intertwine in critical discussions of black rage, protest, anti-blackness, and mothering in the context of black precarity.

The Lightning Rod as a Danger

This book investigates the physical effects of a lightning flash on a person near the down conductor of a lightning protection system. These effects are the touch voltage, the step voltage and the side flash. For this purpose, a full-scale simulation model of the human body with a resistance of 1000 ohms was first created. In the simulation model, the body can touch the down conductor or be placed close to it. Furthermore, the specific resistance of the earth is varied. Likewise, insulating layers such as asphalt can be incorporated into the simulation model. Also, special cases like water permeable layers or water layers on an asphalt layer can be calculated. In post-processing, all relevant values can be determined, such as the energy converted in the body, the charge, the current and the voltage applied to the body. A comparison with the permissible limit values then shows for the lightning protection classes whether there is danger or not and provides information on necessary measures. There is a risk for death and injury if the down conductor is touched. However, there is also a risk of a side flash if a person is standing next to a discharge. Site isolation with dry asphalt is effective, but there is a residual risk of surface discharges. In real situations with wet asphalt, water-permeable layers or asphalt with a water layer, however, there is a great risk of death or injury. Equipotential bonding with an earthing grid is a necessary but not sufficient solution with regard to the induced voltage at negative subsequent stroke. Therefore, the situation must always be examined on a case-by-case basis with regard to the safety requirements. The only effective measure to prevent injury and death due to touch voltage is an insulating down conductor in conjunction with equipotential bonding. The measures for reducing the touch voltage, such as site insulation and equipotential bonding, basically also apply to limiting the step voltage. A risk calculation according to IEC 62305-2 gives the mean time between two events of injury and death MG = 1/RA. The tolerable risk is: RA = 0,0001 or MT = 10.000 years, equivalent to one death in 10.000 years.
