Planning your career just got easierVery few of us put much effort into planning for the kind of career we want. Thinking about where we are going at work is something we all need to do throughout our working lives. The nature of work and employment is always changing. When economic times are difficult, you need to show potentialemployers that you have something special to offer. You may also need to be more flexible in your plans. New kinds of jobs emerge all the time and many labour markets are becoming increasingly specialized. This means you need to find out more about the kinds of jobs that interest you, and you need to understand what employers are looking for and how people get these jobs. By working through a simple series of steps and exercises, you can help yourself to be clearer about what you want, what your options are, and how to move forward. Exercises in each chapter will help you build a collection of information and reflect on what you are learning about yourself and the process of career planning as you go along.Planning Your Career In A Week looks at one step in this process of career planning on each day of the week: Sunday: What do you want from work?Monday: What kind of job would you enjoy?Tuesday: What are you good at?Wednesday: Identifying your career optionsThursday: Collecting informationFriday: Making the choiceSaturday: Taking the first steps

This book contains real stories and allusions to common fairy tales we know from our childhood. It speaks of dreams, passions, seeking and believing in "living happily ever after". As Freud used common Greek tragedies as themes for basic psychological behaviors, this is based on universally known fairy tales. It addresses relationships, emotions, fears, sex and love in themes that apply to women, regardless of age. The chapters are not the advice one might receive from a neighbor, girlfriend or life coach, although it reads as such, but is based upon years of education and research.

Bear Trapped: In a Trashy Hollywood Novel - A mystery set in contemporary Hollywood, this book describes the murder of the infamous manager, Fletcher Calhoun, who has taken over the life of a young film star, Tabitha Sharp. Detective Bear Huff is assigned to the case, even though he doesn't particularly like the famous people he has to investigate. Bear is not what you would call a people person. In contrast, his partner, Elena Cassatt, is thrilled to be assigned to such a high-profile case. The two detectives soon discover that many people had reason to want Calhoun out of the picture. He had separated Tabitha from her identical twin sister, Tiffany, who was devastated by their separation. Tiffany and Tabitha had always been together, worked together in the same "tweenie" movies, even lived together, until Calhoun came along and changed their lives. Calhoun was able to get Tabitha the lead role in the hottest new movie, a remake of the classic "Suddenly Last Summer." The controlling manager used the part to isolate Tabitha from those closest to her. The result was that Tabitha became the target of obsessive media attention, and her very public meltdown fueled speculation about her mental health. As the investigation continues, the detectives discover that many people had reasons to want Calhoun dead. Entering into the public world of the actress, her family and friends, they must unravel the mysteries surrounding the murder, even as they discover that Fletcher Calhoun was not who he said he was at all. Meanwhile, as the investigation proceeds, Tabitha Sharp becomes increasingly erratic in her behavior and Bear finds his sympathy growing. A secret in his own past makes him more understanding than he expected to be. But he is forced to make some difficult decisions in order to find the killer, and he begins to wonder - could Tabitha herself be guilty of murder? Bear Trapped is the first in a series of mystery novels featuring the remarkable but remarkably damaged Shane (Bear) Huff.

The Curate's Brother is a short story about the relationship between the two Wentworth brothers as seen through the eyes of EDWARD WENTWORTH. It follows their romantic antics over one summer in 1806. This short story could be seen as a prequel to Jane Austen's famous novel "Persuasion". Edward Wentworth lives a quiet, structured life as a curate in the regency era village of Monkford. He spends his days ministering to the sick and downhearted, which he considers his life's calling. His comfortable life is shaken when his elder brother, COMMANDER FREDERICK WENTWORTH arrives on his doorstep for a visit. Frederick has returned to England after seeing action and commanding his first vessel, a prize ship won in the West Indies. He is awaiting orders and has the hope of commanding a ship of his own by the end of summer. His only goal is to pass the time with the only family he has left in England until his next assignment. At first Edward is glad to see his brother. They have not spent time with each other for years due to his brother's naval service. They are opposites in many ways. Frederick is bold and likes to take risks. Edward is shy and over-aware of social implications. When his brother flirts with SALLY MARSHALL, an outgoing beauty that Edward is used to viewing as "a child", the young curate becomes aware that his viewpoint of Sally is sorely outdated. His peaceful life is full of turmoil as he observes Sally flirting with men at public assemblies and realizes that he does not like it. Meanwhile, Frederick finds himself a celebrity in Monkford. Word from the London papers paint him as "the Hero of San Domingo", where he won a commendation for his quick thinking in action. The men want to hear the story of his exploits, but Frederick would rather dance with the ladies. The Commander takes an interest in shy wallflower, ANNE ELLIOT. He pays no heed to Edward's warnings that the girl is the daughter of a baronet and well above his station. Edward fears that no good will come of a union between his brother and the girl due to her family connections. At the end of summer, a letter and a package arrive that will change everything for the two brothers. Which way will prevail, the bold action of the commander or the quiet manners of the curate?

The Donigers of Great Neck – A Mythologized Memoir
Wendy Doniger

"Many memories, many myths"-this is how Wendy Doniger begins the story of her parents' origins in Europe and sharply bifurcated life in America. Recalling their contrasting attitudes toward Judaism and religion in general-and acknowledging the mythologized narratives that keep bubbling up in those recollections-Doniger tells the story of their childhoods, their unusual marriage, their life in the post–World War II Jewish enclave of Great Neck, New York, and her own complex relationship with each of them.
