Loneliness. It can lead to out-of-character behaviour. The solitary figure who sits confined in a small room, hunched over a table and writing feverishly, knows this only too well. Young Susan Smith's world was shattered when a freak accident killed her mother and nothing was ever the same for her again. With this shocking event begins Susan's struggle with insecurity, crippling shyness and guilt. Then, unexpectedly, she is given a chance to escape from these troubles. Yet even now she feels there is something lacking. What more does Susan need? Years later another life-changing event resurrects ghosts from her past. Will she be able to untangle her past and confront her shadows? The outcome surprises Susan as much as it will the reader. Spanning the period from the 1960s to the present century, Susan's life and relationships are vividly depicted against the background of life in a South Wales village.
On April 15, 2007 SSGT Scott Lilley was hit by a piece of shrapnel while manning the gun of a humvee on a road his military buddies hilariously called "IED Alley." The hot piece of metal entered his skull just under his left temple, and that changed his life forever.
Where April Comes: A Collection of Poems offers an introspective look at social inequality, nature, the beauty of life, love and innocence. Few modern poets possess the talents and verve of Elliah B. Cruz. Her work reflects a hunger for knowledge, an insatiable idealism, and a provocative mind. She delights with an oh so great passion, an emotional sensitivity, a connoisseur's sense of language, and a keen interest in gesture and effect. Scribed throughout her life, her pieces mirror a personal renaissance not only as a person but as a writer. Through her writing she enters into our world and welcomes us to explore hers.

Researched from original-language primary sources, this is a uniquely well-informed and multi-faceted history of the World War I air campaign of Bloody April.Researched from original German-, French-, and English-language sources, and written by an authority on both air and ground military operations, author, Dr James S Corum examines how Bloody April caused Allied forces to reassess their approach to the use of airpower. Considering well-known problems such as technology and training doctrine, but also how the artillery-aircraft combination ideally had to work in late-WW I ground offensives, Dr Corum analyses what each side got wrong and why. He describes little-known parts of the April campaigns, such as both sides' use of strategic bombing with heavy aircraft, and considers the German use of advanced high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft with oxygen and heated suits while detailing the exploits of the infamous 'Red Baron', Manfred von Richthofen.Lessons from Bloody April not only served to improve the coordination of Allied artillery and aircraft but subsequently aircraft played a much larger role in supporting ground troops in attack mode. Bloody April paved the way for the airpower revolution that, by 1918, would make the Allies masters of the sky on the Western Front.
