It is highly unlikely that this would occur with one of our books. Our extensive quality control ensures that the readers of Trieste Publishing's books will be delighted with their purchase. Our staff has thoroughly reviewed every page of all the books in the collection, repairing, or if necessary, rejecting titles that are not of the highest quality. This process ensures that the reader of one of Trieste Publishing's titles receives a volume that faithfully reproduces the original, and to the maximum degree possible, gives them the experience of owning the original work.We pride ourselves on not only creating a pathway to an extensive reservoir of books of the finest quality, but also providing value to every one of our readers. Change in Agriculture

Change in Agriculture

American agriculture changed radically between 1820 and 1870. In turning slowly from subsistence to commercial farming, farmers on the average doubled the portion of their production places on the market, and thereby laid the foundations for today’s highly productive agricultural industry. But the modern system was by no means inevitable. It evolved slowly through an intricate process in which innovative and imitative entrepreneurs were the key instruments.

Would you like to take a break from your usual fictional reading and try something a little atypical?Trapped in the Cracks is the only novella written in an unorthodox style of dense rhyme schemes and alliteration. Why would the author write such an unusual book? Because it's the type of book that he wanted to read.Despite the insistence on rhyming, Trapped is truly an artistic work of fiction in every other aspect, from its unique storytelling to its heartfelt prose.Through the dialogue of its characters, Trapped in the Cracks periodically addresses social issues concerning poverty, drug abuse, and the unbreakable and saddening cycle of gang violence; and even attempts to tackle the question of why some Americans are reluctant to proudly wave their nation's flag.Looking to read a book that will squint your eyes and twist your mind? Try Trapped in the Cracks.DESCRIPTION: Struggle is the only thing that's guaranteed. But how much struggle would we consider to be obscene?Working a legitimate job in construction to steer clear of his drug-trafficking past, Nick Bernard makes the daring decision to conspire to commit one last illegal act, one intended to change the trajectory of his life and give his family an immediate opportunity to relocate and start a new life of entrepreneurial independence. While devising a devious plan for a risky heist, an unexpected and heart-wrenching tragedy sets Nick on a quest to settle a score before moving his family across the nation to solace and safety. On the surface, Trapped in the Cracks is the gripping story of Nick Bernard's pledge of vengeance for his brutally battered sister-hospitalized by the ruthless kingpin of one of the city's most notorious organized crime syndicates. Methodically peeling away layers of the characters' entangled lives, the author exposes the contrasting journeys of struggle plaguing several men and women through the gritty criminal underworld. From the complex challenges of their inner-city upbringings to the serendipitous crossings of their corrupt paths, their intertwining tales are laced with desperation, violence, malice, and hope.Who is Nick Bernard?Devoted HusbandLoving FatherFrustrated CriminalUnwavering VigilanteBuy your copy today. Eisenhower's Heart Attack

Eisenhower's Heart Attack

Clarence G. Lasby

University Press of Kansas
1997

When delegates to the 1956 Republican Convention sang "Ike for four more years," they were celebrating the President's health as much as his political agenda. Dwight Eisenhower had suffered a heart attack less than a year before, and his decision to seek a second term symbolized for many Americans Ike's victory over a nearly fatal illness. This, it seems, was the intended effect.Previous Eisenhower biographers have touched on his heart condition, but Clarence Lasby is the first to examine the impact of the president's health on the nation. He offers a dramatic revisionist account of the events surrounding the 1955 heart attack and subsequent efforts by the president and his staff to minimize its political impact.Drawing on newly-opened medical records and personal papers of Eisenhower's physicians, Lasby challenges virtually everything we have believed about the president's heart attack. Most disturbingly, he has discovered that the president's personal physician, Dr. Howard Snyder, misdiagnosed the attack as a gastrointestinal problem and waited ten hours before sending Eisenhower to the hospital.Lasby also sets the record straight on how the president and his aides "managed" the public's understanding of events, and he offers evidence that Eisenhower, Dr. Snyder, and press secretary James Hagerty withheld and recast information to serve the president's political priorities.Equally important, Lasby's book offers a touching portrait of a proud man faced with a debilitating disease. It examines Ike's private struggle to lead a full life despite his condition and analyzes his decision to seek a second term even against the advice of cardiologist Paul Dudley White. It also shows how a man who had always carefully looked after his health now became obsessed with it.Eisenhower's Heart Attack is both a remarkable medical case history and an incisive character study of a strong-willed leader. It further illuminates one of our nation's most popular presidents, as it recharges the debate over the relationship between politics and presidential health—and between national security and the public's right to know.

Church Law and Church Order in Rome and Byzantium

Church Law and Church Order in Rome and Byzantium

Clarence Gallagher

This book presents a comparative study of church order in the East and West of the Christian world. It deals with the development of canon law from the 6th century, the time of Dionysius Exiguus and John Scholastikos, up to the period of Balsamon and Gratian. While the focus is upon Rome and Constantinople, the author includes in his discussion the churches under Islamic rule, in Syria and Persia, and describes the beginnings of Slavonic canon law in Moravia. The issues of church government, the discipline of the clergy (married or celibate), and the question of divorce and re-marriage are key themes. By illustrating how these were faced in the canon law of the Christian churches of late antiquity and the earlier Middle Ages, the book highlights questions of unity and diversity within the Christian tradition.
