Exploiting the old maxim that "a picture is worth a thousand words," scientific visualization may be defined as the transformation of numerical scientific data into informative graphical displays. It introduces a nonverbal model into subdisciplines that hitherto employed mostly or only mathematical or verbal-conceptual models. The focus of this monograph is on how scientific visualization can help revolutionize the manner in which the tendencies for (dis)similar numerical values to cluster together in location on a map are explored and analyzed, affording spatial data analyses that are better understood, presented, and used. In doing so, the concept known as spatial autocorrelation - which characterizes these tendencies and is one of the key features of georeferenced data, or data tagged to the earth's surface - is further de-mystified. This self-correlation arises from relative locations in geographic space.

Die Arbeit befasst sich mit Informations- und Offenlegungspflichten f r einen rechtsg ltigen Verzicht auf die Ablieferung von Retrozessionen und vergleichbaren Zuwendungen Dritter. Im Zentrum steht dabei die Verm gensverwaltung durch die Bank. Informations- und Offenlegungspflichten ergeben sich aufgrund der auftragsrechtlichen Interessenlage, der Sorgfalts- und Treuepflicht nach Art. 398 Abs. 2 OR sowie der Rechenschaftspflicht nach Art. 400 Abs. 1 OR. Die auftragsrechtlichen Informationspflichten werden in Bezug auf Retrozessionen und vergleichbare Zuwendungen Dritter untersucht und den aufsichtsrechtlichen Offenlegungspflichten gegen ber gestellt. Die Untersuchung verschiedener Verm gensverwaltungsvertr ge von Banken zeigt, dass die Offenlegung bez glich der in Frage stehenden Leistungen, sofern sie der Herausgabepflicht nach Art. 400 Abs. 1 OR unterstehen, kaum f r einen rechtsg ltigen Ablieferungsverzicht ausreichen d rfte.

Over the past two decades it has been increasingly recognized that whole-body ultrasound is an invaluable tool in the critically ill. In addition to offering rapid whole-body assessment, it has the advantage of being a bedside approach that is available at all times and can be repeated at will. Accordingly, it permits the immediate institution of appropriate therapeutic management. Whole-Body Ultrasound in the Critically Ill is the sequel to the author’s previous books on the subject, which were first published in French in 1992 and 2002 and in English in 2004. This new volume reflects the latest state of knowledge by including a variety of improvements, revised definitions, and updated algorithms. Findings in respect of individual organs are clearly presented, and a particular feature is the in-depth coverage of the lungs, traditionally regarded as an area unsuitable for ultrasound. Throughout, the emphasis is on the practical therapeutic impact of the technique. Der Autor hat eine Zeit lang in dem K nstlerdorf Gu pulo am Rande der ecuadorianischen Hauptstadt Quito gelebt. Das rtchen kuschelt sich malerisch an einen Steilhang und hat eine coole Szene. Meine Frau Ingrid und ich sind zum ersten Mal aus purer Neugierde auf die Cayman Islands geflogen. Wir hatten geh rt, dass dort ein Steuerparadies ist und wollten einfach mal schauen, wie Leute aussehen, die ihr Geld im Paradies verstecken. Stoff f r einen kleinen Reisef hrer mit Einblicken in die Kulisse des Weltbestsellers "Die Firma" haben die Cayman Islands mir allemal geboten. Hier ist er.
