About the book: 'For the Greater Gur' is a cookbook, with a foreword by Michelin Star Chef Vikas Khanna, beautifully illustrated with recipes of 150 desserts all made with Gur (Jaggery). While the book is a small attempt to influence and encourage the use of jaggery in our desserts, the highlight of the book is that it has at least one dessert from the specific cuisine of almost all of our Indian states (for example Shufta from Kashmir, Pukhlein from Meghalaya, Koat Pitha from Nagaland, Mawe wali barfi from Jammu and many others). This in itself is quite a feat given that the Indian cuisine has so many flavors and is so diverse; at the same time there are so many popular desserts, that many other delectable and decadent ones get overshadowed. Finally the book is a humble tribute that Geeta has dedicated to her father who inspired and instilled in her the love for healthy and disciplined living.
'Bhav Sagar' is the ocean of emotions in the same sense as its name, in which, the writer has tried to reconcile the emotions and feelings arising in her mind through poems and poetries. This compilation of about 25 years, is a representation of the diverse forms of the expressions. While on the one hand, the writer is showing the struggle of life through her poems, on other hand, she tried to bring some burning issues pervading society in today's era. The poignant analysis of the horrific problems of 'Old Age' and 'Female Feticide' will surely touch the hearts of readers through 'Anubhav Ki Rekhayen' and 'Mrityu-Ghunti' respectively. So let's sink in the 'Bhav Sagar' and dampen the feelings of your mind.........
So many heroes have been lost to history and this book attempts to bring the reader's attention to two great men who by working in harmony were able to transform the fate of Prussia. Gertha von Dieckmann originally wrote this book in German in 1930. Today, the book contains so many intimate insights into the workings in the administration of the Prussian states during and after the French occupation that it has become relevant for the modern reader. For the first time this work has been now translated into English and will provide valuable insights into the background which undoubtedly led up to the catastrophic events of the twentieth century. To make it even more informative, a considerable number of additional notes about personalities and events have been added in this English edition. This book is the result of considerable effort and research and I hope the reader will become fascinated when learning of how these two gentlemen rubbed shoulders with the kings and emperors of their time and even married into royalty. Karl Stein's wife was even the granddaughter of the King of England, he was a friend of the Emperor of Russia and the King of Prussia. Hated by Napoleon, he fled Prussia as his close friend Sack closely escaped execution. Nevertheless, their efforts were finally to change the face of Prussia, Germany and Europe and probably the world.
No longer a very young man, Philipp Wilhelm Sack, is discharged from Frederick the Great's army after battling and getting wounded fighting Napoleon. Before starting a new career in the government, he decides to take a journey in the part of Germany he loves, meeting up with relatives on the way. He falls in love and gets involved in religious differences, putting off marrying his sweetheart due to his sense of honor.A tale of joy and sometimes despair as we gather insights into the Prussia of the late 18th and early 19th century. Politics, romance and poetry accompany us on Philipps journey. Based on a true story this wonderful novel was lost for ninety years and has now been re-discovered and re-interpreted into English.

At the core of A Fortunate Disaster is the idyllic love shared by two ambitious teenagers who dream of a blissful life together, forever, in rural India, where they would serve their community in professional capacities. Their peaceful flow was interrupted by the wrath of a devasting monsoon season. The chaotic scenes of disastrous floods and panic, uncountable deaths and miraculous survivals and rescues were epic. The two love-stricken teens separated by this catastrophic event were taken to different parts of the world where they both adjusted and adapted different cultures on their separate journey that fate dealt them. Exciting as the new experience was for them, they did not give up on finding each other neither did they give up on the love they buried deep inside for each other. Along the way, they both resisted romantic temptations while dreaming of finding each other. And then the train derailed...

Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar was one of the foremost teachers of yoga and is widely credited with popularising yoga in the world today. He was an inspiring teacher, practitioner, author and philosopher of yoga. In the 1970s he opened his yoga institute RIMYI, where his unique approach inspired many who have gone on to teach Iyengar yoga to new generations of students. This book is a celebration of those years, with the story told through previously unpublished candid photographs and first-hand accounts from his students from the early days. The result is a must-read for anyone with an interest in Guruji Iyengar’s immense contribution to modern yoga practice, and brings him alive for those who follow his teachings today.
Law professor and civil rights activist Geeta N. Kapur provides analysis and commentary on the story of systemic racism in leadership, scholarship, and organizational foundations at the University of North Carolina. The University of North Carolina is the oldest public university in the US, with the cornerstone for the first dormitory, Old East, laid in 1793. At that ceremony, the enslaved people who would literally build that structure were not acknowledged; they were not even present. In fact, 158 years passed before Black students were admitted to this university in Chapel Hill, and it was another 66 years after that before students forcibly removed the long-criticized Confederate “Silent Sam” monument. Indeed, this university, revered in the state and the nation, has been entwined with white supremacy and institutional racism throughout its history—and the struggle continues today. To Drink from the Well: The Struggle for Racial Equality at the Nation's Oldest Public University explores the history of UNC by exposing the plain and uncomfortable truth behind the storied brick walkways, “historic” statuary, and picturesque covered well, the icon of the campus. Law professor and civil rights activist Geeta N. Kapur chronicles the racism within the university and traces its insidious effects on students, faculty, and even the venerable Tarheel sports programs. Kapur tells this story not as a historian, but as a citizen speaking to her fellow citizens. She relies on the historical record to tell her story, and where that record is lacking, she elaborates on that record, augmenting and deconstructing the standard chronology. Kapur explores both the Chapel Hill campus and a parallel movement in nearby Durham, where a growing Black middle class helped to create North Carolina Central University, a historically Black public university.
This is the first part of a book series titled A Cosmic Voyage. After the moon adventure of the three animal astronauts-a fish named Finny, a rabbit named Happa, a crow named Chalu, and their counselor, a wise owl named Guru-leaves them stranded on a lunar orbit, they helplessly wait for rescue. While waiting, the wise owl Guru decides to teach the animal astronauts about the universe and its contents. While listening to Mr. Guru, Finny is astonished to find himself alone, zipping through total darkness in space-time in a spaceship-an ultimate time machine with an on-board supercomputer. Finny travels 13.8 billion years back in time, and witnesses the Big Bang and the creation of the basic elements of matter in the universe within the first three minutes of the Big Bang. After a lo-o-o-ng interval of 380,000 years, Finny witnesses the creation of atoms, leading to the creation of stars and galaxies in the cooled-down universe. The story and the characters in the story are fictional, but the science and the scientific facts in the book are up-to-date. To make science interesting for children, the elementary particles and other space entities are personified: they talk, they sing, and they even dance like performers on the stage.

Geeta Varma is a poet of simplicity. Her words become emotion and remembrance, her settings are beautiful islands of a faraway reality that returns to haunt us again and again. The song of the violin will continue to haunt us much after we have put this book down....
This book focuses on both production and extraction aspects of Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) for their commercialization purpose. PHAs have broad range of applications in packaging, food, agriculture and pharmaceutical industries. Until now literature reports have discussed either production strategies or extraction protocols. But for commercialization purpose both issues need to be addressed. This book highlights other copolymers of PHAs which have much better physico-mechanical properties such as elasticity and strength than polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB). Finally efficient product recovery protocols and process optimization strategies including renewable substrates, high cell density cultivations, genetic engineering and mathematical modeling are discussed in detail in order to outline the progress made so far in the area of economic biopolymer production. The primary audience will be scholars, researchers and professors working in colleges, universities, research institutes and government organizations.
