Return to Oz

In Return to Oz, George shares humorous and sometimes poignant stories about his descent from childhood into adulthood. He remembers a loving but colorful family of six, of which he alone remains. His fascinating stories bring each of those family members to life. A continuation of Growing Up in Oz, George remembers the joys of growing up in Baltimore in the 1950s and 1960s: being lost in the Big Apple as a young child, the summer bells that sent all children running, spending a night in the House on Haunted Hill, encountering Big Foot at his school, the worst college interview imaginable, buying a complete college wardrobe for ten dollars, his dog that became a movie star, the disappearing Thanksgiving dinner, and the promise that got him through basic training. The stories document the importance of family, the treasure that grandparents represent, and the need for a sense of humor in confronting the rigors of growing up. He recounts a more innocent time in our country when the storm clouds of change were on the horizon. George demonstrates how a family is more than a sum of its parts and shows us how those lost still live on in us as we celebrate their lives, not mourn their loss.

Immigrant homes shouldn't be war-zones-they should be places of cultural and intergenerational harmony and diversity Two Worlds at War: Finding Common Cultural Grounds for African Immigrant Parents and Their Children explores the life of the African immigrant family and opens your eyes to the interweaving worlds of different cultures and generations. With insightful wisdom concerning cultural differences, authors George M. Portuphy, DMin, and Cynthia Adom-Portuphy, PhD, help you identify the nature of these differences so you can understand the tension they create and how to bridge the cultural and generational gap with a blended approach. Within these pages, you'll be inspired by the stories, perspectives, and life experiences of immigrant parents and their first-generation children. Two Worlds at War also shares with African immigrant youth how they can grow together with their parents, even when they come from worlds that are miles apart. REV. Computer self-efficacy (CSE) has captured the interest of researchers from widely diverse knowledge domains for over four decades. During that time, the realm of computer adoption and use has evolved and flourished. Along with this evolution, our understanding of CSE, its utility in behavior modeling and training development, and its relationship to a diverse array of antecedents and precedents has continued to evolve. This monograph provides a comprehensive history of the CSE construct as it has been developed and applied within the field of information systems (IS), and within the broader academic communities that benefit from reference to IS research contributions. The authors present the breadth and depth of the CSE construct and offer a framework of extant knowledge and implications for future research within this knowledge domain. The principal contribution of this work is the assemblage of the bulk of the authors’ understanding and knowledge regarding the CSE construct and its associated streams of research into a single compendium. It is intended to facilitate future researchers to access the current thinking regarding the CSE construct and direct their efforts to the continued advancement of our understanding of computer self-efficacy.

In the early 20th Century, German educators Dr. H. Steiglitz and Rev. Michael Gatterer, S.J. developed a method of teaching the Catechism to children inspired by Our Lord's teaching in parables. By first appealing to the imagination of the child through storytelling or pictures, the lesson is more easily absorbed and understood. This method, which came to be known as The Munich Method, was brought to the United States through the work of Rev. George Dennerle, who here presents an English translation and adaptation of one of the key manuals of this movement, Augustine Gruber's Elementarkatechesen.
Approved Exposés On Otis C. Harrison's How To Save Black Americans From Themselves
In these expos s the reader will come to understand how and why "New Age Capitalism, New Age Corporations and New Age Thinking" will give Black people the organized legal systems to empower ourselves. There is no real societal growth and development without viable and sustainable socioeconomic systems that can be passed on to future generations. Far too many Black Americans mistakenly believe Whites and others will take care of us while we sit back and do little or nothing to take care of ourselves. Affirmative action for Black Americans will not exist in the 21st century.

Good Luck Sir... Sorry You Lose is a lighthearted, sometimes quirky, look at the Las Vegas gaming business, through the eyes of a casino dealer. It follows the author's dealing career, told in chronological order, from 1980 until his retirement in 2018. During that time, he experienced lessons that were never taught in dealer's school, such as staying composed while encountering irate and contemptible personalities. And those were just the other dealers. Our author also delves into the mind-set of the true gambler. From the desperation of the local player trying to parlay his meager buy-in into the two-week late rent on his apartment, to the high-rolling whale who thinks nothing of continuing to wager two hundred thousand dollars per hand in baccarat. Throughout this book, there is some laughter and there is tragedy, but in the end, one comes to realize that this truly is a study in humanity.

"So, Is Retirement Supposed To Suck?" is a must-read for anyone who plans on retiring someday. It speaks of author George M. Dean's pitfalls, and how others can learn from his mistakes. This book is divided into two sections: In the first part, George recalls some of the more damaging memories from his childhood such as-his father using him as a human connection to the rabbit-ears on top of the TV. Or perhaps the time he was busted in school, by one of the nuns, for perusing through a Playboy magazine-instead of studying. You can only imagine...The second part, explains why retirement is not what it's cracked up to be. According to George, it's the people. No, not normal people like you and me-but those that work for major corporations, and seem to get off on responding in the most negative patterns. You'll hear a lot of "Sorry, that's not our policy", or "Sir, I'm afraid that would be against protocol, so...no " Anyone nearing retirement is sure to enjoy this humorous and honest account of our authors' experiences.

We Don't Trust Your Theology is one person's approach to starting the reconstruction work. Meant as a jumping off point, this book walks alongside the reader to give ideas, encouragement, and some personal stories on what that may look like.

The cross and empty tomb form the center of the Christian faith. The church celebrates these two events in what is traditionally referred to as the Lord's Supper. It is the custom in some Christian traditions to have a brief meditation related to the Lord's Supper immediately prior to participation. These may be given by the pastor or by a layperson who presides over the ceremony. This book is a series of meditations delivered prior to the celebration of the Lord's Supper. It is our hope that they will be useful for laypeople who perform this service. They may also be helpful as private meditations on the central events of the Christian faith.
