"Like sitting with a friend telling you about his trip" Goodreads"Descriptions were awesome" Goodreads "Lovely descriptions and atmospheric moments" Goodreads"Real to life and not just a travelog" Amazon US VerifiedThis is an affectionate account of our French travels in Provence - meeting so many remarkable (and eccentric) people and places over a 20 year period travelling by car from the North of England. Is it a guide book? Well, the people and places are there but I really want to inspire you to make your own journey and treasure this gorgeous region of breathtaking scenery and the finest food and wine. If not, then be entertained from your armchair and let your imagination take you to the lavender fields in a delightful summer read. Enjoy until we can travel again.PLEASE 'LOOK INSIDE' for the first part of the book: 'Monsieur, - you are hot from the journey, oui'I could only agree that I was indeed the very picture of the Englishman in the noonday sun.She broke away from watering her extensive and beautiful enclosed garden.'I will cool you down'Turning the hose on my fully clothed self she most certainly did that.PRAISE FOR 'THYME FOR PROVENCE'5.0 out of 5 stars EnjoyedReviewed in the United States on April 27, 2020I enjoyed this book so very much. As I read it, I felt like I was sitting with a friend and he was telling me about his trip. The descriptions of the countryside were awesome only outdone by the ones about the food I recommend it and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Perilous Traffic is a fast-moving crime thriller of fifty-three thousand words. It tells the story of how the central character, Myles Hirst, becomes a drug trafficker. The story commences when Hirst is released from prison after been inside for eighteen months. There isn't a great deal for him on the outside. Despite being an old Harrovian and a member of a well-to-do family, his past work contacts are no longer around to help him. The only person he can turn to is someone he met in prison. It was in prison where Hirst first met Roger Cole. It was Cole who suggests they go into the drug trafficking business. Hirst, although wary at first, agrees to meet Cole and three other men in a grotty south London pub. They discuss a plan to smuggle drugs into the UK and agree to form a syndicate. A day after the meeting; Hirst contacts his closest friend from his days at Harrow. A man, called Piers Harper. Harper has some experience of the illegal drugs trade, so Hirst seeks his advice. The syndicate meet again and agree to traffic a consignment of cannabis from North Africa to Spain, using the services of an old London criminal. Chas Wyman now lives in Spain and owns an ocean-going yacht. The venture proves to be highly successful. Thus, begins a highly rewarding time of importing drugs into the country. Several years pass by. Both Hirst and Harper have legitimate business interests and have retired from trafficking drugs. Hirst hasn't heard from Roger Cole for some time. He's surprised when Cole contacts him and asks him if he would be interested in renewing operations. Hirst is, at first, reluctant, but agrees to meet with Cole. After the meeting, Hirst agrees to get involved in a plan to bring in a batch of cocaine, which, according to Cole, has been left in a house close to Alicante, in Spain, by a gang of British criminals who are now in a Spanish jail. Hirst and several other men, two of whom are unfamiliar to him, go to Spain to retrieve the cocaine. Suffice to say it doesn't go to plan. The house is not unoccupied. A gun-fight breaks out and one of the occupants is shot dead. Hirst decides that he wants nothing more to do with it, but it's too late to back out. He hides his share of the cocaine in an area close to a village near to the city of Orleans in France where his sister and brother-in-law live. The trouble is the cocaine belongs to a group of Irish gangsters, loosely connected to the Real I.R.A. Hirst, now back in London, learns that both Wyman and Cole have been murdered. Two of the Irish gangsters trace him to his London home. They kidnap his partner and threaten to kill her unless Hirst takes the men to France to retrieve the cocaine. Just as he is about to take them to the hidden stash, shots ring out. One of the terrorists kills the other. Hirst anticipates he will be next. However, the two members of the team he didn't know arrive on the scene and kill the remaining gangster. With help from his brother-in-law, Hirst is able to escape and return to London. He's desperate to find his partner. By a quirk of fate, he discovers that his friend Piers Harper, is linked to the terrorist gang and that he has been double crossed. He finds his partner in Harper's house and also discovers that an operation to disrupt the Irish gangsters and retrieve the cocaine was a MI5 led operation.

Can music save the world? Probably not. But that doesn't stop this group of protest songwriters from trying Kim, an intelligent and introspective young musician and songwriter, feels increasingly alone and frustrated in her small, conservative Midwestern hometown. So she makes the move to a place she hopes will be a more liberating locale... a college town. There she hopes to find kindred souls: like-minded thinkers and fellow musicians who might join her in writing socially conscious songs for our divisive times. And find a few she does, though not exactly the folks that she had expected...First there's Jenny, a brash, outspoken young punk guitarist with a fondness for confrontation and the F word, who has great beginnings to several potentially great songs (she just has trouble finishing them). Then there's Nathaniel, a waiter at a vegetarian restaurant and a writer of beautiful poetry who has never actually written a song before. This trio forms the heart of this Political Music Club, but others come trickling in later as their tiny movement begins to grow (and also begins to attract the attention of some folks who are definitely not of the same mindset).Using a unique blend of song lyrics, political debate and humor, the novel Political Music Club tells the story of 3 individual voices trying to make a change in a very big world. And amidst all the noise and distraction in the runup to a very divisive election, this book of will be music to your ears

Ukulele book one of the Jam Along Series is probably one of the few, if not the only, ukulele books out there that provides tablature for how to play the melody for all the songs it covers in addition to learning how to strum the chord progressions to the songs. 13 songs that are perfect for the beginner: Mary Had A Little Lamb, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Hot Cross Buns, Brother John, London Bridge, This Old Man, Row Row Row Your Boat, Baa Baa Blacksheep, Boil The Cabbage (two versions), Cripple Creek, Amazing Grace, Ode To Joy. Exercises, scales, and chord voicings are covered as well. This book is written specifically for "soprano ukulele" or "concert ukulele." If you are not sure what this means I strongly recommend researching ukulele body styles and tunings to better understand what sort of ukulele you have or are interested in having.

Richard Foreman has been writing, directing and designing avant-garde theatre in New York since he first founded his Ontological-Hysteric company there in 1968. In all that time, few directors have taken up the challenge of staging his problematic, rewarding texts, and Foreman's work remains under-explored by other practitioners.Richard Foreman: An American (Partly) in Paris argues that Foreman can productively be viewed as a (partly) European artist, whose thinking and theatre-making have been radically shaped by contact with Europe. Through a detailed account of his European productions, interviews with Foreman himself, a set of practical strategies for staging the plays and the full text of Foreman's previously unpublished play Georges Bataille’s Bathrobe (1983), Neal Swettenham introduces the director’s work to a new generation of readers and theatre-makers.

Gender in Film and Video tracks changes in gender on screen by documenting trends of the internet age. The jargon-free book focuses on six instances of media in transition and their histories, including the rise of feminism on television, in sports events, and in comedy-drama series; the growth of DIY production by underrepresented groups through crowdfunding and YouTube channels; and struggles between fans and producers over control of casting and storytelling. This volume focuses on the breakdown of the categories (content, production, reception) that top-down production/distribution in TV and cinema tended to keep distinct. This text is for students in sociology, media studies, and women’s and gender studies.

Reinventing Intercultural Education
Most existing books in the fields of multicultural or intercultural education have been written based on anthropologists’ cultural dimensions, which presume culture is a fixed entity. Reinventing Intercultural Education is the first book to review multiple cultures and religions from a metaphysical understanding. It argues that intercultural value interactions can be managed and taught in a way that facilitates individuals to reveal how they are metaphysically positioned within intercultural value networks. This book proposes a metaphysical understanding of interculturality, by reviewing popular cultural and religious narratives found in multicultural society. By doing so, it develops an alternative pedagogy for multicultural education founded on the concept of intercultural hermeneutics. Beginning with a critical review of multicultural policies and existing models of multicultural education, Dreamson advocates the necessity of an intercultural approach to multicultural education. He then moves on to argue for the methodological aspects of interculturality by reviewing and adopting philosophical hermeneutics theories. Throughout the book, it is argued that values incarnated as a cultural framework are networked and interact via our minds to sustain our intercultural realities. Furthermore, when intercultural interactions transpire, which is the goal of multicultural education, we can see a larger part of the world that, in turn, helps us cultivate ourselves for further intercultural interactions. The book should be of great interest to academics, researchers and postgraduate students engaged in the study of multicultural education, the philosophy of education, religious pluralism, religious education, cultural studies, theology and indigenous education.
