Article VI of the Pirate Code of Conduct forbade "women or boys aboard ship". No exceptions, the punishment of death awaited any crewmember caught breaking this rule. Anne Bonny was an exception to this rule. Yes, a woman, but first and foremost, she was a pirate. She was born the illegitimate daughter of a prominent lawyer in County Cork, Ireland and raised in the American colony of Carolina. Anne Bonny's remarkable life took her from being the mistress of a wealthy plantation owner, through marriage, infidelity, poverty, and the violent life of piracy. Knowing that he was at the risk of his life, her lover Capitan, Calico Jack Rackham, took her to sea onboard his pirate ship, The Vanity. After casting their vote the crew of the Vanity accepted Anne as a crewmember where she walked the deck as more than an equal, Anne quickly proved herself as violent and efficient at killing as any man. She gain her crew's respect as a true Hellcat of the High Seas. The Story of Anne Bonny is as wild and gritty as the era it portrays. Following the cast of characters from Ireland to the Americas, to the Caribbean, London and the European battlefields of the Nine Years War, the book weaves a gritty tale that ultimately explodes in a single place and time. The Story of Anne Bonny is a great tale based upon true life events.

Anne Shirley is, Mark Twain observed, "the dearest and most lovable child in fiction since the immortal Alice," and like the elderly Cuthberts who had hoped to adopt a boy instead of the spunky red-headed orphan, generations of readers have grown to love the impetuous Anne. Canada's best known and most beloved novel is available in the definitive text of Montgomery's 1908 classic, an enchanting and timeless story of real lives and real loves.

Dr. Anne Hogsett is the Director of Hospital Medicine at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas. In March of 2016, Josh Umholtz, the publisher of the newspapers in both Coffeyville and Independence, Kansas (The Coffeyville Journal and The Independence Daily Reporter) asked Dr. Anne to make a volunteer contribution to the health of the region by writing a weekly column in which she would answer any questions submitted by the newspapers' readers. The column ran for 53 weeks in 2016 and part of 2017. So many people were asking for copies of previous columns that Dr. Anne decided to put all 53 columns in book form. Dr. Anne would like to remind everyone that as we continue to study, our understanding of medicine will change AND medical recommendations will change accordingly. Now that this book is finished, Dr. Anne is hoping to get started again. So, if you have more questions, send them in and then pick up the following week's newspaper to get your answers
