Il diabete una malattia metabolica caratterizzata da iperglicemia cronica derivante da un difetto nella secrezione e/o nell'azione dell'insulina. Si tratta di uno studio descrittivo retrospettivo condotto per un periodo di un anno (01) dal 1 gennaio 2019 al 31 dicembre 2019 presso l'H pital Fousseyni Daou (HFD) di Kayes. Il nostro studio ha incluso pazienti diabetici con complicanze acute e/o croniche e pazienti di et superiore ai 20 anni. Abbiamo arruolato 406 pazienti diabetici, che rappresentano una prevalenza ospedaliera del 19,65%. L'et media alla diagnosi era di 53,26 9,69 anni, con una predominanza maschile e un rapporto tra i sessi pari a 0,62. Lo squilibrio glicemico (HbA1c > 7%) stato riscontrato nel 39,92% dei pazienti. Le complicanze acute sono state l'ipoglicemia (68,57%) seguita dalla sindrome da iperglicemia iperosmolare (17,14%) e dalla chetoacidosi diabetica (14,28%), ma nessun caso di acidosi lattica. Le microangiopatie sono state la neuropatia periferica (53,51%) seguita dalla retinopatia diabetica (25%) e dalla nefropatia (16,01%).
