Would you be excited to go to the beach with your parents? Debbie and Dannie were, and they learned a lot along the way. They learned what to pack, good thoughts and words, and how to keep their eyes on Jesus. Learn what it means to be modest as you visit the airport, fly on an airplane, ride in a taxi, and play on the beach. The My Bible Teaches series was designed to give parents and teachers a guide to help answer questions that children ask on everything from daily moral issues to deep biblical concepts. These beautifully illustrated stories contain lessons paired with Bible verses to tackle each topic. The goal is not to give the perfect answer for everyone but to teach children and parents alike to get their answers straight from the Bible.
«Bilder Einer Ausstellung» Von Viktor Hartmann Und Modest Mussorgskij ALS Beispiel Fuer Eine Integrative Aesthetische Erziehung Im Musikunterricht Der Allgemeinbildenden Schule
Visualization as Assemblage: A Framework to Apply Modesty, Ethics, and Attachment to a Critical Design Practice
How data visualization can be harnessed as a critical design practice as shown through three sociopolitical case studiesVisualization is a form of design practice that deploys representational processes of enormous rhetorical and analytical power. What is often left out of the picture is the network of processes which it assembles and the nonvisual effects it produces. Building upon the arguments of Latour, Deleuze and Guattari, author Patricio D vila applies an assemblage framework to three case studies offering distinct instances of critical visualization practices: Liquid Traces (2014), from Forensic Architecture; Anti-Eviction Mapping Project (2013-), from the San Francisco Tenants Union; and In the Air, Tonight (2013-16), from the Public Visualization Lab/Studio. D vila underscores an ethics of visualization that refocuses criticality on the potential of design to act modestly by revealing its own construction.Patricio D vila is a designer, artist, researcher and educator. He is Associate Professor in the Department of Cinema and Media Arts in the School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design, at York University.
The Exchange Rate System and the IMF – A Modest Agenda

The Exchange Rate System and the IMF – A Modest Agenda

Global currency markets have remained unsettled. The dollar hit record lows against both the yen and the mark in 1995. The Mexican crisis led to a free fall of the peso. Renewed tensions in the European Monetary System required devaluations in Spain and Portugal. It is thus fortuitous that the world's major countries, starting with the G-7 summit in Italy in June 1994, have agreed to reexamine the world monetary system and the role of its chief institutional custodian the International Monetary Fund. Yet there is little agreement on what should be done. Sweeping change in the form of explicit, binding exchange rate targets for the United States, Japan, and Europe does not seem to be in the cards. More limited reforms might gain more acceptance. But what should be the nature of those reforms? Would they be worth the effort? This study sets out a modest agenda for managing the exchange rate system, improving the system's early warning capabilities, and strengthening the IMF s oversight responsibilities. It could help improve functioning of the world economy and global financial stability.

Keats, Modesty and Masturbation

Keats, Modesty and Masturbation

Rachel Schulkins

Examining John Keats’s reworking of the romance genre, Rachel Schulkins argues that he is responding to and critiquing the ideals of feminine modesty and asexual femininity advocated in the early nineteenth century. Through close readings of Isabella; or the Pot of Basil, The Eve of St. Agnes, Lamia and ’La Belle Dame sans Merci,’ Schulkins offers a re-evaluation of Keats and his poetry designed to demonstrate that Keats’s sexual imagery counters conservative morality by encoding taboo desires and the pleasures of masturbation. In so doing, Keats presents a version of female sexuality that undermines the conventional notion of the asexual female. Schulkins engages with feminist criticism that largely views Keats as a misogynist poet who is threatened by the female’s overwhelming sexual and creative presence. Such criticism, Schulkins shows, tends towards a problematic identification between poet and protagonist, with the text seen as a direct rendering of authorial ideology. Such an interpretation neither distinguishes between author, protagonist, text, social norms and cultural history nor recognises the socio-sexual and political undertones embedded in Keats’s rendering of the female. Ultimately, Schulkins’s book reveals how Keats’s sexual politics and his refutation of the asexual female model fed the design, plot and vocabulary of his romances.
