A number of books have been written on the various roles of the pastor, and many of these works focus on one particular aspect of the pastoral ministry only, or just a few of them. The Multidimensional Pastor is an attempt to bring together and discuss in a single volume these various elements of the pastoral ministry with a goal of looking at principles from the Scripture to guide the pastors as they fulfill these various roles. The purpose of this work is to provide a balanced perspective and a bigger picture of the pastors' functions, while acknowledging their personal limitations. In this way, readers can develop a more realistic set of expectations from a pastor and celebrate the variety of expressions of the ministry.

Kenya went to the polls on December 27, 2007. The incumbent president was declared the winner. The opposition protested the results. They took to the streets bringing all businesses to a standstill. Violence broke out in major Towns in Kenya. In western Kenya where the opposition enjoyed much support, there was looting and setting on fire property of their rivals. The opposition supporters came out armed with arrows, bows and machetes and started killing and torching houses belonging to other tribes they have been living with for over forty years and asking them to leave. The politicians were unable to sit down and sort out the chaos. African Union intervened and they agreed to sit down under the chairmanship of Kofi Annan, the former Secretary General of United Nations. Kofi spent a whole month in Kenya and he finally succeeded to make the two groups to agree to work together in a government of national unit. This cooled the political temperature in the country. The conflict had displaced people from their homes, families have been separated, and people have been chased away from their workplace. The conflict has had an effect in the social integration in Kenya. With the leaders agreeing to share the government, the Kenyan population is promised of peace and stability. The credit goes to Kofi Annan who worked hard to broker the agreement. The people of Kenya have agreed to honour Kofi by naming all new-born baby boys after him. The wildlife wardens have already named a baby rhino after him.

Samson Johnson has spent a life in politics. A self professed politics 'bicycle seat' finds himself run down and out of faith around 2014. Despite having worked many positions in numerous campaigns, for a litany of different causes all over the political spectrum, he is jaded, pained and full of doubt. In an effort to bring himself down from the non-stop, jet set campaigning lifestyle,Samson takes a quiet data entry job for a think tank in Washington DC, in an effort to reclaim stability in his life. Within weeks however, Samson's attempt at finding serenity is shattered with reports of another mass shooting. Samson finds himself possessed to address gun violence and begins a one man campaign to end it forever. From Militia men in Oklahoma, to a Pride Center in Vermont, from shareholders in California, to reservation workers in South Dakota – Samson Johnson's 'Believe America' movement traverses all over America to reach its people. Yet as the movement builds in popularity so does Samson's reflection on his policy. Across his journey, he is given the creeping realization that his policy may be woefully misguided and in fact, stand to do more harm than good.
World War I in Africa

World War I in Africa

The First World War in German Southern and East Africa was fought in extremely different circumstances to the war on the Western Front. Very little has been written on the South West Africa campaign whilst, conversely, much attention has been granted to the military aspects of the East Africa campaign. This book returns the spotlight to both of these campaigns, seeking to understand the impact which policy decisions and the interplay of individuals made on the course of the war in East and Southern Africa. The author illuminates the roles of two key players: General Jan Christian Smuts who led the army of South Africa to take on German forces in East Africa in 1915, and the undefeated Lettow-Vorbeck, famed for being the only German general to occupy British territory. The paths of these military protagonists crossed over events in Africa from 1899 and continued to cross as adversaries in battle, until the two men, who held each other in extremely high regard, finally met in London in 1929. Although they died in 1950 and 1964 respectively, the profound effect they had on Africa still continues - as does that of Lord Kitchener who stood alone in London trying to keep East Africa out of active war. In trying to understand the interplay of the individual and politics on the military, World War One in Africa attempts to take as holistic a view of the campaigns as possible. The study, using primary and secondary material from Britain, South Africa and other countries involved, seeks to undermine Clemenceau's claim that war should not be left to the Generals. Had it not been for the ill-informed decisions of individual politicians, a great proportion of the 102,260 deaths would have been prevented and a total war debt of GBP95 million avoided.

Djibouti, the small Horn of Africa state, has great geopolitical significance as a result of its location, positioned along the Bab el-Mandeb strait and the Gulf of Aden, where the maritime trade routes of three continents converge: Europe, Asia and Africa. Djibouti has become instrumental in controlling the trans-shipment of goods, particularly oil. It is also where world powers vie for control—as demonstrated by the military presence of multiple global powers, four of which (China, France, the USA and Japan) have established military bases in the country. Despite its global importance, the political history of Djibouti remains undocumented. The last English-language book on the subject came out in 1968, before the country won its independence from France in 1977. Over half a century later, 'Djibouti: The Politics of a Strategic State' details the country's political trajectory since independence. Samson Bezabeh examines how the idealism of the struggle for an independent state ended in tragedy for the country's people, allowing elites the opportunity to enrich themselves—aided and abetted by the international powers seeking to control Djibouti through their political proxies.

Instructional Cinema and African Audiences in Colonial Kenya, 1926–1963
In Instructional Cinema and African Audiences in Colonial Kenya, 1926–1963, the author argues against the colonial logic instigating that films made for African audiences in Kenya influenced them to embrace certain elements of western civilization but Africans had nothing to offer in return. The author frames this logic as unidirectional approach purporting that Africans were passive recipients of colonial programs. Contrary to this understanding, the author insists that African viewers were active participants in the discourse of cinema in Kenya. Employing unorthodox means to protest mediocre films devoid of basic elements of film production, African spectators forced the colonial government to reconsider the way it produced films. The author frames the reconsideration as bidirectional approach. Instructional cinema first emerged as a tool to “educate” and “modernize” Africans, but it transformed into a contestable space of cultural and political power, a space that both sides appropriated to negotiate power and actualize their abstract ideas.

Britain, South Africa and East African Campaign
Contains original material on an under-researched period in British and South African history. An unusual approach - writing colonial history from the perspective of all the countries involved, this work sheds new light on greater historical processes of British and German rivalry in Africa and the development of an independent South Africa. The East African campaign has held little place in national memory - for Britain, it has been a 'romantic' side-show whilst for South Africa, a reminder of its failure to unite the two dominant white races and acquire the port of Delagoa Bay in Portuguese East Africa. Using new material gained from original research, Anne Samson reassesses the importance of the campaign to the young South African dominion in attempting to prove its coming of age and pursue its imperial desires. "Britain, South Africa and the East African Campaign" is a comprehensive study from multiple perspectives of the key players that will illuminate this under-researched period in colonial history.

In a world obsessed with getting somewhere at the expense of enjoying where we are, we have forgotten what peace feels like, what a stressless day looks like, what having more time and energy feels like, what feeling healthy feels like, what waking up and not rushing through the day looks like, and what simply being happy feels like. Samson Yung-Abu provides answers on how to slow down and do what humans are supposed to do: live life. This book is a toolbox for living your best life Content: BENEFIT OF GETTING UP AT 5 AMNEW DAY. Samson Yung-Abu proposes that one of the most important fundamentals to help us meet daily expectations and live a highly healthy, productive, and peaceful life is understanding when and how to start our day right. The author also provides that often we do know better, but we still fail at doing better with what we know. The author believes that the missing keystone to doing better with what we know is our inability to think positively. As evident in this book, thinking positively is a precursor to doing productively better, personally, socially, and economically. However, to maximise positive thinking, the author proposes that we need the pace and space for it. This is where 5 AM shines at best.
