The Paris-Princeton Lectures in Financial Mathematics, of which this is the fourth volume, publish cutting-edge research in self-contained, expository articles from outstanding specialists - established or on the rise! The aim is to produce a series of articles that can serve as an introductory reference source for research in the field. The articles are the result of frequent exchanges between the finance and financial mathematics groups in Paris and Princeton. The present volume sets standards with five articles by: 1. Areski Cousin, Monique Jeanblanc and Jean-Paul Laurent, 2. Stéphane Crépey, 3. Olivier Guéant, Jean-Michel Lasry and Pierre-Louis Lions, 4. David Hobson and 5. Peter Tankov.

One must be able to say at all times - in stead of points, straight lines, and planes - tables, chairs and beer mugs. (David Hilbert) One service mathematics has rendered the human race. It has put common sense back where it belongs, on the topmost shelf next to the dusty canister labelled "discarded nonsense. " (Eric T. Bell) This book discusses reasoning with partial information. We investigate the proof theory, the model theory and some applications of reasoning with par tial information. We have as a goal a general theory for combining, in a principled way, logic formulae expressing partial information, and a logical tool for choosing among them for application and implementation purposes. We also would like to have a model theory for reasoning with partial infor mation that is a simple generalization of the usual Tarskian semantics for classical logic. We show the need to go beyond the view of logic as a geometry of static truths, and to see logic, both at the proof-theoretic and at the model-theoretic level, as a dynamics of processes. We see the dynamics of logic processes bear with classical logic, the same relation as the one existing between classical mechanics and Euclidean geometry.

Since 1876, the Lancel name has been a symbol of French luxury leather goods that embody a unique blend of artisanal, traditional, and cutting-edge creativity. This Parisian Maison has always combined audacity and practicality, as in the case of its 1893 innovation, the 'guaranteed seasoned' briar pipes. Albert Lancel structured the brand around four key areas: leather goods, women s and men s accessories, luggage, and the art of gifting. The iconic store at 8 Place de l Opera a true precursor of contemporary concept stores offered luxury that was always on the move. This book celebrates the 150th anniversary of Lancel, diving back into the storied archives to showcase early creations, catalogues, and advertisements from the 1920s and 30s to the present. These pieces narrate the evolution of eras, reflecting different lifestyles and revealing how practical needs were transformed into sophisticated creations, from the iconic 'Sacs a Malices' which feature ingenious pockets to collaborations with artists like Salvador Dali, who inspired the 'Daligramme bag.'
