In this second volume the support crew present more stories about 60009 Union of South Africa and also John Cameron’s second locomotive, 61994 The Great Marquess, which he acquired in 2003. This much smaller locomotive could go to places barred to 60009, such as the West Highland line, the line it was built for. It has also run on many heritage lines, where it has proved very popular. As before, the ups and downs of main-line running are included, as well as fascinating anecdotes and memories. Richly illustrated with more previously unpublished images, this book provides a wonderful insight to this marvellous hobby, something that has ended now that both locomotives are safely resting in John Cameron’s Museum.
When young Cameron a 10 year old boy moved into a new house with his mum and sister, they made friends with a creepy old man who lived opposite. The old man told Cameron that he was a special boy and gave him a key that could take him anywhere in the universe including new worlds or travel through time and would go on adventures that would save the universe. On his first adventure, Cameron, his sister and his best mate Barry went to Dragarnia. There they discovered a king who had lost the Crystal Sphere, the kings only defence against his enemies. The sphere had been taken by the dragons of Dragarnia, so Cameron decided to go and find the sphere but he had to avoid being caught by the army of evil witches who wanted to rule Dragarnia. Unfortunately his sister Jess got kidnapped by the witches, so Cameron had to find the sphere, defeat the witches, rescue his sister and restore peace and freedom to Dragarnia.
In 1790, Daniel Johnson sailed into the Sabine River, beginning the Anglo settlement in what would eventually become Cameron Parish in the southwest corner of Louisiana. Lured by the abundance of natural beauty and resources, most settlers moved into the coastal cheniers and inland Cajun prairie after 1830. The population grew enough by 1870 that a new parish was officially carved from Calcasieu and Vermilion Parishes. It was named for Abraham Lincoln's first secretary of war, Simon Cameron; the community of Leesburg at the mouth of the Calcasieu River also took the parish name of Cameron. The town of Cameron was among the biggest fishing ports in the country during the mid-1900s, but one of the largest economic drivers for the parish has been oil since the late 1920s. Even through the adversity of hurricanes, investments continue, and today, Cameron Parish exports more liquid natural gas than most countries.
