"Degradation process" refers to many types of reliability models, which correspond to various kinds of stochastic processes used for deterioration modeling. This book focuses on the case of a univariate degradation model with a continuous set of possible outcomes. The envisioned univariate models have one single measurable quantity which is assumed to be observed over time. The first three chapters are each devoted to one degradation model. The last chapter illustrates the use of the previously described degradation models on some real data sets. For each of the degradation models, the authors provide probabilistic results and explore simulation tools for sample paths generation. Various estimation procedures are also developed.

Es gibt eine Einfuhrung in die grundlegenden Mechanismen der Warmeleitung, Konvektion und Temperaturstrahlung sowie weiterfuhrende Betrachtungen zu stationaren und instationaren, laminaren und turbulenten Warmeubertragungsverhaltnissen mit einem Uberblick uber technische Warmeubertragungsapparate. Einzelne Kapitel werden durch Aufgaben erganzt. Im Anhang befindet sich eine Formelsammlung mit den wichtigsten Gebrauchsformeln der Warmeubertragung.
The numerical simulation of combustion processes in internal combustion engines, including also the formation of pollutants, has become increasingly important in the recent years, and today the simulation of those processes has already become an indispensable tool when - veloping new combustion concepts. While pure thermodynamic models are well-established tools that are in use for the simulation of the transient behavior of complex systems for a long time, the phenomenological models have become more important in the recent years and have also been implemented in these simulation programs. In contrast to this, the thr- dimensional simulation of in-cylinder combustion, i. e. the detailed, integrated and continuous simulation of the process chain injection, mixture formation, ignition, heat release due to combustion and formation of pollutants, has been significantly improved, but there is still a number of challenging problems to solve, regarding for example the exact description of s- processes like the structure of turbulence during combustion as well as the appropriate choice of the numerical grid. While chapter 2 includes a short introduction of functionality and operating modes of internal combustion engines, the basics of kinetic reactions are presented in chapter 3. In chapter 4 the physical and chemical processes taking place in the combustion chamber are described. Ch- ter 5 is about phenomenological multi-zone models, and in chapter 6 the formation of poll- ants is described.

The techniques used for Z2Z4-linear codes are being generalized and applied to more general codes. By example, these codes have contributed to the classification of many nonlinear codes. Moreover, they can be considered as the starting point of many different generalizations given over mixed alphabets, thereby representing a useful area of research. Since 2010, more than 30 papers have been published about the codes considered in the book, which includes important classes of binary codes (1-perfect, Hadamard, etc.) that are not linear in general. For example, much recent research has shown the application of the techniques described for the family of cyclic Z2Z4-linear codes. Wer dieses Buch, zun chst in der Kurzfassung, gelesen hat, wird rundum die Medizin mit anderen Augen sehen, so auch die genetischen Erkrankungen, eingeschlossen die Krebsentstehung. Dabei wurde besonders auf den Brustkrebs der Frau eingegangen, wodurch dieses Buch einen hochaktuellen Wert besitzt. In diesem Buch wurden auch so brisante Fragen wie die Entstehung der HPV-Infektion angesprochen. Sicher ist noch manches zweifelhaft, aber der Denkansatz ist offenbar interessant und lohnenswert. Obwohl die Autorin Frauen rztin ist, ist dieses Buch nicht nur f r die Gyn kologen geschrieben worden, sondern es sollte einfach von jedem Arzt gleich welcher Fachrichtung, einschlie lich der Tier rzte und anderer Fachrichtungen wie von Biochemikern oder Biophysikern gelesen werden, da es einen v llig neuen Einblick in die Medizin vermittelt.
