What happens when a quirky hair stylist reluctantly takes a DNA test and unearths a long-buried family secret? Come along on Christi's journey from the snowy woods of Upstate New York through the city streets of Paris as she lands in the sweltering heat in the heart of North Carolina to unravel a mystery, interwoven with her own life story, that ultimately tests her mettle and her faith. Miracles and tragedies abound on this rollercoaster ride of a lifetime, and just when things start to go right, life takes a left turn. Christina Marie Hales is a public speaker, small business owner, MS survivor and MS treatment and research advocate, former avid cyclist, and wife and mother. Her mission is to draw people closer to God. Christi's story is her testimony to what God did in her life and an example of what God can do in yours. She wants you to know that He can do anything for you according to His will and all you have to do is trust Him as your Savior and walk with Him. Catherine Anne Lewis accidentally stumbled into a memoir writers' workshop and has been trapped in the genre ever since. Cat rarely writes fiction because reality is much more interesting and unbelievable. Her adopted home is in North Carolina where she wonders if the adult children will ever leave, and if the harassing beagles will ever leave her alone. She writes because she breathes. She loves God and attempts to follow her late husband's life philosophy to love people like Jesus and build community wherever she goes.

Law firms have evolved exponentially over the last few decades, and today it requires far more than legal skills for firms to operate efficiently, fulfil client demands, give back to their communities and, ultimately, succeed. As a result, specialist roles beyond fee-earning have been created and more continue to emerge as technology advances and competition intensifies. They are a crucial part of future-proofing law firms and there is growing recognition of the respect and value they deserve with increasing numbers gaining positions in senior management. These roles range from working with legal tech to bringing in new business, from managing the firm's risk and compliance function to collaborating with clients to develop new products. For a lawyer looking to take the next steps in their career, or a law firm wanting to implement the career paths required for future success, it can be difficult to know where to begin. The Rise of Specialist Career Paths in Law Firms is the essential guide to the plethora of career opportunities available in law firms. It covers more established roles such as the professional support lawyer and pro bono professional, and new, emerging career paths, including in innovation and legal operations, as well as roles that will become available in the future. Written by experts with lived experience performing these roles, chapters provide information and insights into the different opportunities available, the skills needed to thrive in these positions, the responsibilities they entail and how to build careers in these spaces. With increasing client demands and the 'talent war' raging, this title will demonstrate how implementing these specialist career paths will enable law firms to continue to provide stellar client service and develop and retain top legal talent, who are increasingly looking for more tailored and flexible career options. It will also provide individual lawyers with the resource to identify and pursue the career that suits them best, allowing them to thrive to the benefit of both the individuals and their firms.

Oslo Learning to Fly offers the first comprehensive presentation of the radical transformation of this former sleepy village into an emerging world city. Oslo has been among the fastest growing cities in Europe for decades and this book spans from the conversion of a major shipyard into the multi-use borough Aker Brygge in the late 1980s, and into 2030 when the transformation to a post-industrial city will be complete.Inside, the philosophy and principles behind Oslos urban development are revealed and the book may be used both as a tool-kit for urban practitioners in post-industrial cities, and as a gift book for people all over the world who want to familiarise themselves with the Oslopolitan way of life and with how to do the noblest art of them al: the art of city making. Oslo Learning to Fly is divided into four chapters. Chapter 1 is dedicated to the harbour landscape of the Fjord City, Chapter 2 to the managing of growth through hub densification, Chapter 3 is about transformation and refinement of the already existing urban fabric, and Chapter 4 covers the relevance of so-called third places and their importance in enabling the concept of community. And please, dont leave me on the coffee table. Im made for walking. Bring me with you when you walk the streets of Oslo, and use me as a treasure map to discover the secrets of the city.Erling Fossen is a human geographer and self-proclaimed urban doctor. He is currently the project leader of Oslo Metropolitan Area a non-profit organisation devoted to urban development in the Greater Oslo.

The Department of Defense has become increasingly focused on competition with China and Russia and the possibility of great power war. RAND researchers generated four plausible near-term war scenarios and assessed how they could shape the postwar strategic environment. These scenarios show the complex relationship between wartime and postwar goals, highlighting the importance of considering postwar outcomes in prewar planning.

The Nature of Contemporary Organization Development
The nature of contemporary Organisation Development (OD) is often written about by both scholars and practitioners, yet there is little evidence of these descriptions (or debates on key issues) having been based on reliably collected data. This book compares academic and practitioner perspectives on the profession of OD in the UK and how it has evolved over four decades. The research which informs this book was designed to investigate similarities and differences in the perspectives between these two communities. Where practitioners and academics views varied in the data, reasons for this are explored in this book, through the theory lens of Institutionalism, Fashions, Fads and the Dissemination of Management Ideas. The empirical data in how OD has evolved in the UK in the underpinning research to this text was gathered through content analysis of job advertisements from over a four-decade period. This provided information on changes in the magnitude in the take up of the profession in the UK as well as significant developments in the content of the job roles over the period. It will not come as a surprise to find that American thinking dominates in OD as it does in many other domains of management. What is a surprise is the extent to which OD practice in the UK is so very different from what the academics tell us it is. This book also identifies the extent to which institutional theory is at play in the development of professions; with agency is a driver in shaping professions. This manifests itself in terms of the perceived interests of what will give leverage for success in practitioner and academic careers. The Nature of Contemporary Organization Development is key reading for researchers, scholars an practitioners alike of Organizational change and development, organizational studies, management philosophy and related disciplines
