Ausgehend von der Hypothese der bereits bestehenden Forschungen über den CSI-Effekt in den USA, dass insbesondere die Geschworenen vor US-amerikanischen Gerichtssälen sich auf das Wissen aus Crime-Sendungen berufen und zum Beispiel die rechtsmedizinische Methode der DNA-Analyse unter Rückgriff auf die konsumierten Fernsehsendungen als Allheilmittel stilisieren, untersucht der vorliegende Band die Darstellung der rechtsmedizinischen und kriminalistischen Untersuchungsmethoden in US-amerikanischen und deutschen Krimi- und Fahndungssendungen sowie in weiteren Reality-TV und Scripted Reality Formaten, die sich mit den modernen Methoden der Verbrechensaufklärung beschäftigen.
