A brilliantly funny exploration of the twin mysteries of parenthood and families from the Pulitzer Prize winner and "New York Times"-bestselling author of "Insane City." In his "New York Times"-bestselling "I'll Mature When I'm Dead," Dave Barry embarked on the treacherous seas of adulthood, to hilarious results. What comes next? Parenthood, of course, and families. In uproarious, brand-new pieces, Barry tackles everything from family trips, bat mitzvah parties and dating (he's serious about that title: "When my daughter can legally commence dating--February 24, 2040--I intend to monitor her closely, even if I am deceased") to funeral instructions ("I would like my eulogy to be given by William Shatner"), the differences between male and female friendships, the deeper meaning of "Fifty Shades of Grey," and a father's ultimate sacrifice: accompanying his daughter to a Justin Bieber concert ("It turns out that the noise teenaged girls make to express happiness is the same noise they would make if their feet were being gnawed off by badgers"). Let's face it: families not only enrich our lives every day, they drive us completely around the bend. Thank goodness we have Dave Barry as our guide

The Politics of Murder: Organized Crime in Barry Goldwater's Arizona
"Could change the historiography of Barry Goldwater and his times." -Jerry Kammer, author of "The Second Long Walk: The Navajo-Hopi Land Dispute" and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for journalism (2006). "A fascinating new book by Dave Wagner ... makes an important contribution." -Jon Talton, RogueColumnist.com.. "A close history of 20th-century Arizona politics that reads a lot like a crime novel." -Paul Buhle, Lecturer in history, Brown University. In 1977, after Arizona courts sent three men to prison for the murder of reporter Don Bolles, most Arizonans agreed with The New York Times when it declared that, despite the outcome of a series of trials, the Bolles case remained "unsolved." None of the three imprisoned men had a personal motive for the killing. Two were paid assassins and the third was a courier. As the decades passed with no further resolution of the case, the more urgent question was not who killed Bolles but who took control of the investigation and shut it down. Bolles' was the fourth in a string of five highly publicized message murders in Phoenix between 1955 and 1986. Only one of the murders was solved: the killing of accountant Edward Lazar hours before he was to testify in an historic land-fraud case. Chicago police discovered that Lazar's murder was the work of contract killers, but others, including a dozen or more that were disguised as heart attacks, suicides or accidents, remain open to this day. 'The Politics of Murder' presents the major players on both sides of the law-crime bosses, politicians, killers, journalists and cops-as a history of organized crime in modern Phoenix. In its closing chapters, the book reveals new archival evidence about the motives of the man who wanted Bolles dead and the powerful politician who made the decision to leave Arizona justice in limbo.

When blather.net was spawned back in 1997, Dave Walsh, Damien DeBarra and Barry Kavanagh exhumed the lofty manifesto of the original Blather, founded in 1934 by Flann OBrien. It would also be a publication of the gutter achieving entirely new levels in everything which is contemptible, despicable and unspeakable in contemporary journalism. Blather.net would have no principles, no honour, no shame. It would support the fostering of graft and corruption in public life, the encouragement of humbug and hysteria, and the glorification of greed and gombeenism.Over ten years later comes A Load of Blather, gathering together the best of the best reports on paranormal events, superstitions, mysterious happenings, conspiracy theories, the hordes of rampaging kangaroos in the Dublin hills, and the previously untold story of General Michael Collins' forays into outer space. Look no further - this is Blather.

Thug Force 1 is a parody of U.S. foreign and drug policy, as well as our celebrity obsessed culture. It is intended for adults and does contain profanity and drug references/use... much to my dismay, sorry no porn. If Thug Force 1 was a movie (for which I do Have a script available, if you're in the biz) it would be a cross between Half-baked, Friday, Stripes and Airplane. Anyway, if you've got nothing better to do why not try Thug Force 1 now 95% fat free with significantly reduced tars and resins. Typos included at no extra charge. Intended for immature adults only
Four Flags, the Odyssey of a Professional Soldier
Dave Barr had had a penchant for trouble since day one, born in the back of a car, shooting by the time he was five, riding a motorbike at seven, Dave regularly got into fights at school. The only reading Dave would do growing up involved motorbikes, shooting, westerns and the military. After reading Battle Cry by Leon Uris aged 12 he knew he wanted to be a Marine. Following a series of menial jobs, working at a barbers and in service stations, at 17 he joined the Marines before shipping out to Vietnam. This was his dream come true, flying as a helicopter gunner, he ended the war with an impressive 57 Air Medals. After leaving the Marines, like many veterans Dave found it hard to hold down a good job and stay out of trouble. It was then that he read about Israel. Always looking for a rush Dave learnt to skydive before he deciding to take his chances, emigrating illegally to Israel. He was inducted into the Israeli Army and then the Paratroops, where the training was difficult, involving long tough marches, and learning Hebrew. After serving his time he left Israel - back in the USA Dave was stuck in a rut and ready for his next adventure… This is the first volume in the gripping and action-packed memoirs of Dave Barr, providing a rich and colourful account of one man's odyssey as a professional soldier, seeing war at the 'sharp end'.

Dave doesn't get out much. He's never been popular at parties, or first picked in dodge ball. One thing Dave has always been, though, is a bad roommate. It's not that he leaves dirty dishes out and forgets to flush (though let's face it, he does), it's more about how he manages to always screw things up. For instance, blowing people up. It's not intentional, usually, but Dave's issue is that he's a demon, and not a particularly successful one. Dave is a play in one act for a cast of five that takes place in the middle of a bedroom renovation. A simple attempt at a harmless joke takes an unexpected turn when the couple unwittingly summon Dave. The story follows the three through the ensuing week as the work to finish the bedroom, plan a party, and no get blown up.
