Active Shooter - How You Survive: Critical thinking can keep you out of critical condition.
Active Shooter Prevention and Response. It's a complex topic involving location Security Surveys and reports with options to consider. Training and drills for Law Enforcement and civilians and mental preparation for attacks that can occur virtually anywhere people gather. A comprehensive study of this disturbing and deadly phenomenon can easily encompass 100's of hours of classes, reading and on location services. Few of us have the time or inclination to invest in that level of training. Authored by a Crime Prevention Specialist this booklet is designed to be read in under an hour and encompasses highlights from training that I believe will offer a good grounding in Active Shooter knowledge that when taken into account will make you safer and more secure. I strongly encourage you read the entire contents as the ideas and information imparted will help you better prepare to avoid and/or mitigate the effects of an Active Shooter attack. About the Author: David is a crime prevention specialist with over 1000 hours of training, much of which is related to active shooter concepts. He performs security surveys at businesses, government institutions and private homes with the goal of improving overall target hardening and personal safety. He also instructs civilian classes on situational awareness and a survival mindset. Thousands have attended his seminars. Knowledge affords power to act in ways that will enhance your tactical readiness. Thank you for the trust and confidence you show by investing your time to learning how you may better avoid or survive a real life active shooter situation.

Though we Christians don't need subjective texts to understand or live our faith, nevertheless we can often take great joy and insight from hearing how others have "walked the walk," from hearing what our Lord or our Lady had to say to them. Reading these folk can be like talking over a backyard fence. We can get little tips, helps; and we can make a friend. Gabrielle Bossis's He and I really helps the reader to see how sweetly Jesus, the most high God of the universe, loves us. It helps us get a feel for the mystical circuitry, for how we are made--not to be stand-alone units, but rather to be in intimate, continual union with the only One who both knows us and lovingly completes us. It's like a homey road map, or an afternoon of tea and good company. It's like going to a game and the home team wins.

Gabrielle Bossis is a voice well worth listening to. Both Jesus and the Father come through in her He and I, suffusing the book with love and mercy (Catherine of Siena's ""pazzo d'amore""). Through her locutions, we feel Jesus more intimately than we do during most of our own more prosaic lives. These poems attempt to play off those two things: what we know against the splendor of what has been revealed to her. They seek to celebrate Who this marvelous He is.

In the Clearances of the 19th century, crofts - once the mainstay of Highland life in Scotland - were swept away as the land was put over to sheep grazing. Many of the people of the Highlands and islands of Scotland were forced from their homes by landowners in the Clearances. Some fled to Nova Scotia and beyond. David Craig sets out to discover how many of their stories survive in the memories of their descendants. He travels through 21 islands in Scotland and Canada, many thousands of miles of moor and glen, and presents the words of men and women of both countries as they recount the suffering of their forbears.

In their crusade to modernise public services, New Labour are giving vast amounts of taxpayers' money to management and IT systems consultants. They are everywhere - the Inland Revenue, MoD, Education Department, NHS and Downing Street. But are these management wizards giving us schools and hospitals that will be the envy of the world, or are they just siphoning off billions that should have been spent on the frontline services? And the biggest and most expensive consulting catastrophe of them all may still be yet to come - up to GBP 30 billion taken out of patient care to pay for the new NHS computer system. Isn't it time to ask how our money is really being spent?

Over the last ten years, New Labour has boosted public spending by around a trillion pounds - that's £1,000,000,000,000 of our taxes - over £50,000 for every household in Britain. But what have we got for our money? Effective and responsive public services that are the envy of the world? Or the creation of a vast, self-serving bureaucracy that has presided over the greatest waste of money in British history? With so much money, a tsunami of extra cash, being thrown at public services - health, education, policing, defence, social services and public administration - there have been some successes. Nevertheless, the results of the Government's tidal wave of extra spending have been worse than pitiful. In department after department, it is the same sorry story - a triple whammy of incompetence, cover-up and cuts that have all but decimated public services, while those responsible have lavished money and honours on themselves. David Craig exposes the sometimes tragic, sometimes comic story of how New Labour's years of mismanagement have led to a bureaucratization of Britain that has squandered almost unimaginable amounts of taxpayers' money, caused irreparable damage to all our lives and rewarded the man responsible with the keys to Number 10.

At last, an insider takes the lid off Management Consulting and reveals how too often this vast and secretive business has become a licence to siphon off almost unlimited quantities of clients' money. In this book the author shows that there can sometimes be truly great management consultancy. However, he also reveals how most of the worlds major management consultancies have become vast and incredibly profitable factories churning out thousands of almost identical "warm bodies", whose time must be sold to clients, whether clients have problems to be solved or not.

Thirty years ago, around 770,000 people - just one in six school leavers - attended a British university or polytechnic. Now there are over 2.3 million students in Higher Education - almost half of school leavers. But has this huge growth in 'Uni' really been the great success that politicians and universities would have us believe? After all, what's the point of having a degree if one in every two people has one and if less than one in ten students on many courses will find a graduate job? THE GREAT UNIVERSITY CON exposes the truth behind the massive expansion of Britain's university sector - millions of graduates with useless degrees in pointless subjects from third-rate universities with little chance of finding a graduate job but with a lifetime of unrepayable debt.

This novel, from a foremost expert on the Clearances, tells the story of Flo Campbell and her eviction from the family's island home, and all her subsequent struggles. The compelling storyline has terrific energy, from the Battle of the Braes and Flo's departure from the island to her travels and employment on Skye and beyond. Flo's spirit remains unquenched whether challenged by the faithlessness of lovers or the callousness of employers and she is a historical witness who embodies the undying memories of her Highland people. She spends much of her life in the lowlands of Britain and in this as in many ways she incarnates the crofters, fishermen, labourers and artists who spring from that epic northern terrain. This is a masterful portrayal of the perverse power and wretched consequences of the Clearances and how they transformed the lives of individuals, and also the power of a native landscape in a Celtic breast.

Glasgow 1893. Wilton Hunt, a student, and Tam Foley, a laudanum-addicted pharmacist, are pursuing extra-curricular careers as body snatchers, or `resurrection men', under cover of darkness. They exhume a girl's corpse, only for it to disappear while their backs are turned. Confused and in need of the money the body would have earnt them, they investigate the corpse's disappearance. They discover that bodies have started to turn up in the area with ripped-out throats and severe loss of blood, although not the one they lost. The police are being encouraged by powerful people to look the other way, and the deaths are going unreported by the press. As Hunt and Foley delve beneath the veneer of respectable society, they find themselves entangled in a dangerous underworld that is protected from scrutiny by the rich and powerful members of the elite but secretive Sooty Feathers Club. Meanwhile, a mysterious circus arrives in the middle of the night, summoned as allies to help avenge a betrayal two centuries old... Resurrection Men is the first book in David Craig's Sooty Feathers series, a masterful gothic tale about a supernatural war for control of the Second City of the British Empire, and the struggle of flawed characters of uncertain virtue who try to avert it. It is set in a late 19th century Glasgow ruled by undead - from the private clubs, town houses and country manors of the privileged to the dung-choked wynds and overcrowded slums of the poor. Undead unrest, a fallen angel, and religious zealots intent on driving out the forces of evil, set the stage for a diabolical conflict of biblical proportions.
