The stench of them rotting makes him hungry. He begins to feel the ticking inside him, feeding a darkness he's long ignored. It compels him to take what he wants, regardless of the price. When he begins to act on his bloodlust, the ticking leads him to the death of a loved one.The clock begins to point to more of Sam's friends and family, begging for their blood. Between black market organ trading, sentient rain, and cannibal romance, this collection delivers ten gory horror tales. The collection is split into three sections and grapples with how other people can fail us through lies, deceit, and possession. The ways that other people are incomparable in their cruelty. The ways they can lead us to our deaths. This collection, featuring reworked versions of previously published short stories and original material, amalgamates David-Jack Fletcher's writing journey. It explores the primary theme that people, not demons, monsters, or ancient worm gods, are the cause of evil-the arbiters of our impending doom. The monsters, well, they're just a happy coincidence.

Age as Disease explores the foundations of gerontology as a discipline to examine the ways contemporary society constructs old age as a disease-state. Framed throughout as ‘gerontological hygeine’, this book examines contemporary regimes, strategies and treatment protocols deployed throughout Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The book deploys critical cultural theories such as biopolitics, somatechnics, ethics, and governmentality to examine how anti-aging technologies operate to problematise the aging body as always-already diseased, and how these come to constitute a movement of abolition, named here as ‘gerontological hygiene’.

This book is the first review of the scientific literature on the Africanized honey bee. The African subspecies Apis mellifera scutellata (formerly adansonii) was introduced into South America in 1956 with the intent of cross-breeding it with other subspecies of bees already present in Brazil to obtain a honey bee better adapted to tropical conditions. Shortly after its introduction, some of the African stock became established in the feral population around Sao Paulo, Brazil, and spread rapidly through Brazil. It has since migrated through most of the neotropics, displacing and/or hybridizing with the previously imported subspecies of honey bees. Africanized bees have been stereotype d as having high rates of swarming and absconding, rapid colony growth, and fierce defensivebehavior. As they have spread through the neotropics they have interacted with the human population, disrupting apiculture and urban activities when high levels of defensive behavior are expressed.
