However, in the traditional male-dominated architectural world, men were automatically put in leadership positions while the role of women was always underplayed, although they worked in equal partnership and made the same contribution. När Nationalmuseums museibyggnad var tömd på såväl konst som kontorsinredning inför renoveringen, fick Denise Grünstein i början av 2014 möjlighet att göra ett konstprojekt i det tomma huset. Det blev bildsviten 1866 som syftar på museets invigningsår. Men bilderna går egentligen inte att fixera i tiden, det går inte med bestämdhet att säga om de hör till historien, nuet eller framtiden. Som konstnär spelar Denise Grünstein medvetet på dessa tvetydigheter och låter betraktarna färdas mellan två poler, som aldrig går att nå och som är varandras motsatser – det förgångna och framtiden.
