In the weight sensitive sport of boxing, Jack Dillon, "The Giant Killer," was considered an anomaly. Size was irrelevant; besides, it was only a factor if he accepted as such. He refused. Sturdy, compact and indestructible, yet capable of turning on a dime, Dillon not only defeated his opponents, he humiliated them. This dynamic defined his prolific and unparalleled career (1908-1925). His accepted record of 94-7-14, with 129 no decisions and one no contest (64 victories by way of knockout), put him in elite company with other members of the International Boxing Hall of Fame. While he claimed the middleweight championship for over two years, the unrivaled Hoosier pugilist was often recognized as the world light heavyweight champion. Moving up a division, he disposed of heavyweight contenders like tissues during flu season. On June 29, 1916, Dillon defeated Frank Moran and was clearly the top contender for giant Jess Willard's heavyweight crown. Yet, Willard, who outweighed Dillon by 60 pounds, and was about a foot taller, refused. This first biography of the celebrated pugilist is based on contemporaneous newspaper accounts of the time and includes several appendices with career statistics and a selected boxing record.

When visitors from across the Galaxy finally took notice of our little blue planet, they immediately let the leaders of Earth's governments know that they were here to take over. Resistance (as the saying goes) would be futile against this race of giants who proved that their technology and weapons were far more advanced than our own. The planet Earth would be a colonized state, with or without the humans t consent, For over 100 years, men have lived under this "Stendaaran" rule, choosing to co-exist with their extraterrestrial conquerors than to go extinct because of them. Private detective, Jack Dillon, had a huge problem with this arrangement, even though he was powerless to do anything about it, He hated aliens-all spaces leeches (as he liked to call them). But all that changed the day one hired him to solve the case of a stolen relic. And while cut trying to find this thief, Jack would ultimately discover that we need these savvy invaders (for our ultimate survival) in more ways than one.

Rhea Dillon: An Alterable Terrain
An Alterable Terrain, the solo exhibition by Rhea Dillon at Tate Britain from May 2023 until January 2024, brought together new and existing sculptures as a conceptual fragmentation of a Black woman’s body. Probing material histories and Black feminist epistemologies, Dillon evokes the fragments of a conceptual body - eyes, hands, feet, mouth, soul, reproductive organs, and lungs - in this poetic assemblage of responses to colonialism, patriarchy, and Black female labour. Viewed together, these disparate elements underline the foundational role Black women’s physical, reproductive, and intellectual labour has played in the history of the British Empire. Accompanying this major exhibition, this publication showcases Dillon’s poetically insightful work. Edited by Dillon it features her poetry, alongside newly commissioned texts, posthumously published poems from the poetry archives in Jamaica, and illustrations of the exhibition and individual works. Published by Tate Publishing, An Alterable Terrain features contributions from Patricia Noxolo, Barbara Ferland, Zoé Samudzi, Vanessa Onwuemezi, Françoise Vergès, Katherine McKittrick, and Martine Syms. This powerful volume illuminates the links between historical sites of dispossession and contemporaneous sites of exploitation and overwork, and underlines how structures of power – including colonialism, racial capitalism, and patriarchy – have an enduring presence in the production of Caribbean and British identities.
