Agnorance - Memoirs, Musings and Madness by Doug
Agnorance. Is it even a word? Doug Sheehy believes it is since he authored it. Agnorance is discussed in full detail along with other memoirs, musings and madness from an unprofessional writer and attempted humorist named Doug. This book is filled with stories from Doug's life as well as his thoughts on a variety of topics and even a few choice recipes. Doug Chiang: The Cinematic Legacy (Volume I) & The Star Wars Legacy (Volume II)
A two-volume, 800-page, deluxe slipcased celebration of Academy Award–winning artist and designer Doug Chiang, LucasFilm’s senior vice president and executive design director One of the most influential figures in crafting the visual language of Star Wars, Doug Chiang first joined forces with Lucasfilm for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and has supervised or contributed to the visuals for Attack of the Clones, The Force Awakens, Galaxy’s Edge, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Last Jedi, Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Rise of Skywalker, and the Disney+ Star Wars television series The Mandalorian. Chiang’s impact on Star Wars, documented in full in the Star Wars Legacy volume of this monumental monograph, cannot be overstated. From the Naboo N-1 Starfighter to the iconic podracers and innumerable ships, droids, and creatures in between, no one person has had a greater hand in guiding the look and feel of Star Wars since Ralph McQuarrie. The companion volume in this set, The Cinematic Legacy, is dedicated to Chiang’s work prior to his arrival at Lucasfilm and showcases his early work, from student films and commercial work to working at Industrial Light & Magic and creating designs for Back to the Future Part II, Alien 3, T2: Judgment Day, Death Becomes Her, Spawn, The Mask, and Jumanji, among others. Chiang also spent time at Image Movers Digital, where he pushed the boundaries of visual effects with contributions to The Polar Express, Beowulf, and War of the Worlds. Chiang’s incredible imagination also expands into his personal work with Robota, a passion project of massive scale whose wide array of creatures, droids, ships, and far-off planets serve as the culmination of his influences and interests. Chiang’s five-decade career has featured close collaborations with legendary directors including George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis, James Cameron, and the Wachowskis, all of which are celebrated in this deluxe two-volume package.

Doug Pitassi's 15 Best Restaurants in Portland There are few places as unique and diverse as the city of Portland, and the city's dining options reflect the openness of its residents to a wide variety of culinary delights. In this new book, Doug Pitassi takes on the daunting task of offering his expert assessment of the very best restaurants the city has to offer by providing detailed information regarding each and every restaurant earning a ranking among the 15 best. Citing the combination of the exceptionally fertile soil of the Pacific Northwest and the fearlessness of residents to try things belonging to entirely unfamiliar cultures, Pitassi praises Portland's culinary sophistication by noting that there are hundreds of restaurants worthy of inclusion among the best in Portland. Despite the difficulties inherent in his task, Pitassi successfully brings the exceptionality of the Portland dining scene into focus and provides a thorough assessment and explanation for each of his choices. The ideal book for both residents and visitors to the city of Portland, Pitassi makes sure to detail each restaurant's respective specialties along with all the hidden gems that may not always be discovered by diners during the first few visits to a given establishment. "Doug Pitassi's 15 Best Restaurants in Portland" also includes advice regarding the best times to visit each dining establishment, as some of the restaurants rely heavily on seasonality when preparing their menu offerings while others are just predictably busy at certain times. With practical advice and detailed descriptions, first-time visitors to Portland can use this book to find the perfect dining option regardless of their particular tastes or inclinations, and Portlanders can benefit from the depth of Pitassi's analysis to discover the menu offerings they may have unintentionally passed over at their favorite restaurants. The 15 restaurants in Pitassi's book represent a broad range of dining options, including everything from traditional roadside fare to fine French cuisine. Even though each restaurant is undeniably unique and offers something entirely different from the others, Pitassi has identified a single commonality among them all that elevates the dining options they are able to provide: A clear focus on creating outstanding food through the use of the highest quality ingredients and a continued commitment to innovation and preparation.

Doug Peters was one of the most prominent business economists in Canada between 1966 and 1992 in his role as chief economist of the Toronto Dominion Bank. He was an outspoken critic of the economic policies of the Progressive Conservative government during the last part of his career. Instead of retiring peacefully in 1992, he decided he wanted to help change economic policy in Canada, and ran for parliament in 1993. From 1993 to 1997, he was the parliament member for Scarborough East and secretary of state for international financial institutions in the Liberal government. Doug Peters: Bay Street Economist on Parliament Hill is the life story of Doug Peters, written by his son, David Peters, but largely based on Doug's unpublished memoirs. Doug did not follow a conventional career path for a business economist. As a teenager, Doug flunked out of university twice. He then spent ten years working in retail banking. With a more serious, mature attitude in his thirties, Doug went back to university. He was the top student in his Commerce class when he graduated in 1963. He then went on to graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a PhD in 1969. This book tells many interesting stories from Doug's life. Some of the stories are quite amusing, while other stories tell about important decisions that Doug was involved in....
