Antonia must try to tame the wild gelding at the Rosenburg Riding Stables in the first book of this exciting new series! Antonia Rosenburg has always dreamed of winning the top riding competitions. But now that her faithful horse, Snow White, has become lame, Antonia’s dreams are squelched. How will she ever be able to compete without her trusty friend? Meanwhile, Rosenburg Riding Stables is receiving a new addition. A famous French jockey wants to board his prize gelding, Elfin Dance, at the stable, and Antonia finds herself overcome with joy and excitement. She immediately forms a deep connection with Elfin Dance, but no one else at the stable can get near him; he bucks them, runs away, and is generally cranky around anyone but Antonia. And while Antonia is fully capable of looking after Elfin Dance, will the famous Frenchman allow an eleven-year-old girl to care for his prize horse? Will Antonia be able to provide love for both him and her beloved Snow White? When the jockey turns up unexpectedly to check on his horse after a particularly heavy storm, will everything come unraveled with the horse’s training, or can Antonia save the day? This is a friendship between girl and horse beautifully told by Elisabeth Zöller and Brigitte Kolloch, featuring colour illustrations by Betina Gotzen-Beek, Antonia, the Horse Whisperer highlights a classic first love for many girls and sets the stage for a new horse series for young readers.

Antonia’s greatest love is riding horses. So it’s no surprise that her dream is to become a successful show jumper. But when her riding instructor presents an opportunity for Antonia to realize her dream by entering her for a big show-jumping competition, Antonia’s courage seems to fail her. After all, not only is Antonia the youngest entrant in the competition, but Elfin Dance, the wild gelding she rides, sometimes has a mind of his own. To make matters worse, Alina?Antonia’s antagonist who never misses an opportunity to best her?is entering the competition, too. Does Antonia even stand a chance?A story of perseverance told by Elisabeth Zöller and Brigitte Kolloch, featuring the colorful illustrations of Betina Gotzen-Beek, Antonia and the Big Competition encourages girls to overcome their fears and obstacles in this second book in an exciting new horse series for young readers.Sky Pony Press, with our Good Books, Racehorse and Arcade imprints, is proud to publish a broad range of books for young readers?picture books for small children, chapter books, books for middle grade readers, and novels for young adults.

Over the past thirty years Britain's food scene has undergone a food revolution of sorts. Elisabeth Lambert Ortiz, whose Mexican and Caribbean cookbooks are considered classics, portrays the beginning of Britain's culinary renaissance across 250 intuitive and delicious recipes in this vintage cookbook. After two years of tracing this revolution through the elegant country inns, chic city restaurants, stately hotels, and local pubs of her homeland, Ortiz gained the confidence of their expert chefs and persuaded them to share their best recipes with her, translating them into formulas designed for the home kitchen. These recipes are lighter and more colorful, borrowing from a variety of cuisines as well as adapting old favorites. They take full advantage of modern kitchen technology and a greater variety of ingredients available. They run the gamut from soups to desserts, with appetizers, salads, fish, meats, game, and poultry in between. Each of these recipes is written in Ortiz's trademark style—clear, concise, and easy-to-follow. They are delicious and enticing, and truly reflect the exciting revolution in Britain's native cuisine.

Sarah Bradford's Elizabeth is the definitive biography of the Queen, revealing the real woman behind the public figure The Queen lived through nearly a century of immense change and upheaval. Her own family experiences, a mixture of happiness and crisis, weddings and divorces, and, in the case of Diana, violent death, have been lived in the glare of tabloid headlines. More than 2 billion people watched the wedding of her grandson Prince William to Catherine Middleton in 2010 shortly before she made the first State Visit to Ireland by a British monarch for 100 years. Our world has changed more in her lifetime than in any of her predecessors': and before her death, the Queen remained a calm presence at the centre, earning the respect of monarchists and republicans. How did she do it?__________________________'The only book that could overtake it is the autobiography, which in this case will never be written' Spectator'Bradford has a real grasp of history and the ability to make it spark into new life' Sunday Telegraph'Bradford's forte, ever since she was a history-mad girl, is thinking herself into other lives' Daily Telegraph

History has pictured Elizabeth I as Gloriana, an icon of strength and power -- and has focused on the early years of her reign. But in 1583, when Elizabeth is fifty, there is relentless plotting among her courtiers -- and still to come is the Spanish Armada and the execution of Mary, Queen of Scots. We have not, until now, had the full picture. This gripping and vivid portrait of her life and times -- often told in her own words (and including details such as her love of chess and marzipan) -- reveals a woman who was insecure, human ('You know I am no morning woman'), and unpopular even with the men who fought for her. This is the real Elizabeth, for the first time.
