The Honest, Loving Answers Children Need to HearWhat should you say when your five-year-old asks about his dying grandma? Or when your seven-year-old wonders if the devil is real? Or when the sixth graders in your Sunday school class are talking about a tragedy they heard about on the news? When it comes to the dark and tragic aspects of our world, it can be hard to know what to say and how much.Mother/daughter team Elyse Fitzpatrick and Jessica Thompson will carefully walk you through difficult conversations, one topic at a time. Speaking from personal experience, informed by child development research, these two moms offer practical insights and age-appropriate guidance.Talking about tough topics may not be as hard as you think, and, more important, you'll see how these conversations can lead to meaningful discussions of God's unchanging goodness. "I love this book! I will recommend it again and again. It is street-level theology for children that drips with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Parents, read it, live with it, share it daily with your children, and not only will they learn and grow, you will, too."--Paul David Tripp, president, Paul Tripp Ministries"This is a scripturally rooted and profoundly wise guide for parents who desire to weave gospel truths into the answers to their kids' toughest questions. I highly recommend this book. It takes the pressure off of parents to have all the perfect answers, reveals the radical nature of God's grace, and weaves the 'scarlet thread of redemption' through every answer."--Jeannie Cunnion, MSW, author of Parenting the Wholehearted Child"These hard questions aren't random--children wonder about these issues, and they impact our everyday lives. Now talking about these questions doesn't have to be overwhelming for lack of resources. I'm so thankful for Elyse and Jessica's hard work, precision, and focus on Christ in this book."--Gloria Furman, author of Glimpses of Grace and Treasuring Christ When Your Hands Are Full"Martin Luther once said he measured his ability as a preacher by his ability to communicate the gospel to the young. This book is filled with such gospel truth, so simply articulated. No one has helped me connect the gospel to parenting more than Elyse Fitzpatrick and Jessica Thompson."--J. D. Greear, PhD, author of Ready to Launch: Jesus-Centered Parenting in a Child-Centered World and Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart"As a mother of seven, I'm always interested in grace-filled, Bible-based answers to the tough questions of this life. Elyse and Jessica do a beautiful job of balancing truth with grace, while offering parents practical, solid answers to topics that many parents cringe over. I'll be looking at this great guide again and again, not because it contains all the answers, but because the authors humbly point parents back to the only source of truth that's ever existed: the Bible."--Heidi St. John, author and speaker "This is a great book to help answer the big theological questions of little children."--Pastor Mark Driscoll"Elyse and Jessica have written a must-have book for parents and those involved with ministry to children. It provides helpful, gracious, wise, and faithful answers to some of the most difficult questions children can ask about the Christian faith.."--Justin S. Heaven Is the Home You've Been Waiting ForIn this world of fear, trials, and loneliness we often feel adrift--like we're still searching for a place where we can truly make ourselves at home. There's a longing for something more, something that makes us feel like we belong, something that resonates perfectly with who we were made to be. This longing is no small thing to be brushed off and forgotten--it's a guidepost letting us know we were made for another world. Earth is not our home. But it's close. What we long for is the new earth, the place God has been preparing for our eternity with him. In Home, Elyse Fitzpatrick explores heaven and the afterlife, demonstrating that our final destination is not some dull, featureless space in the clouds, but rather a perfected earth. It's a real, physical place that we'll explore with real bodies. A place of beauty and wonder and free of all death and decay. No need to chase a bucket list. On the new earth there will be no end of glorious sites and amazing activities, and we'll never run out of time to do them all. Includes questions for group discussion.

What does the Bible say about the value of women? Does the Bible teach that women are as valuable as men or does it portray them as somehow more flawed, more suspect, or weak and easily deceived? Beginning from Genesis and working all the way through the storyline of the Bible, Worthy demonstrates the significant and yes, even surprising, ways that God has used women to accomplish His kingdom goals. Because, like men, they are created in His image, their lives reflect and declare His worth. Worthy will enable and encourage both men and women to embrace this true and lofty vision of God's creation, plan, and their value in His eyes. Bestselling author Elyse Fitzpatrick and pastor Eric Schumacher together invite women to embrace a transformative and empowering view of their Maker, themselves, and the church. But this isn't only a book for women. It is also a book for men, especially leaders, who want to grow in their understanding of God's perspective on women, people who normally make up the majority of their congregations; men who might be wondering if they've missed something amid the abuse scandals that are rocking the church. Might the headlines they're reading today about abuse have their roots in a denigration of the value and worth of women? Worthy: Celebrating the Value of Women will help every reader see the value, place, and calling of women through study questions and a "Digging Deeper" section that will help men and women discover how to cherish, value, and honor one another for God's glory.

What is our purpose in parenting? Is it to keep our kids alive and healthy? To raise responsible adults who will be kind people, loving friends, and good citizens? Or maybe we'd just be happy if our kids would clean up their rooms and stop antagonizing each other. While all of these are honorable goals, when we focus entirely on fixing our kids' behavior we can miss the most important role a parent has: to show them the love and grace of Christ.Give Them Grace gives you the gospel foundation to parent from a place of joy, freedom, and peace. This newly revised edition reflects what Elyse and Jessica have learned in their own parenting journeys in the last decade and includes two new chapters on parenting with grace in regard to your children's mental health and gender. This isn't a "how-to" manual; it's a call to remember, speak, and rest in the gospel as you model Jesus to your children. Because this is the good news of parenting: it's not about getting things right all the time--it's about grace.

The legal treatment of sexual behavior is a subject that receives little scholarly attention in the field of Middle East women's studies. Important questions about the relationship between sexuality and the law and about the societies enforcing that relationship are rarely addressed in the current literature. Elyse Semerdjian's ""Off the Straight Path"" takes a bold step toward filling that gap, offering a fascinating look at the historical progression of Islamic law's treatment of illicit sex.Semerdjian provides a comprehensive review of the concept of zina, sexual indiscretion, exploring the diverse interpretation of zina crime as presented in a variety of sources from the Qur'an and hadith to legal literature. She then delves into the history of legal responses to zina within the specific community of Aleppo, Syria.Drawing on a wealth of shari 'a court records, Semerdjian brings to life Syrian society during the Ottoman period. With vivid detail, she describes specific women's lives and experiences as their cases are presented before the court. Semerdjian argues that the actual treatment of zina crimes in the courts differs substantially from sentences prescribed by codifed Islamic jurisprudence. In contrast to the violent corporal punishments dictated in the Islamic legal code, the courts often punished crimes of sexual indiscretion with nonviolent sentences, such as removal from the community. Employing exceptional insight, ""Off the Straight Path"" presents a powerful challenge to the traditional view of Islamic law, enabling a richer understanding of Islamic society.

Going the Extra mile is the fourth principle of the 17th Principles of Personal Achievement organized by Napoleon Hill. This principle is portrayed through a collection of stories from various authors. Going the extra mile stretches human potential. These stories aim is to inspire the reader to make positive modifications and improvements in their life. Product DescriptionGoing the Extra Mile is a collection of inspiring stories based off of the fourth principle from the 17 principles of Personal Achievement researched and authored by Napoleon Hill. These stories are powerful examples of motivation to inspire the reader to consider adapting the Going the Extra Mile principle in their daily living. As a society, we have been conditioned with average and doing what we need to fulfill tasks, but the extra mile contributes in our lives to give us what we want, and not what we have to settle with life may give us. We all have the power to change our circumstances, and the principle of Going the Extra Mile allows the effort required to change our life to what we envision it to be. About the AuthorsThe authors of Going the Extra Mile are Certified Instructors and Students of the Napoleon Hill Foundation. They include; Dr. Tamara Tilleman, Walter Kaltenbach, Elyse Hargreaves, Michelle Casey, Francisco Mendoza, Mani Maran, Jerrilynn Rebeyka, Valen Vergara, Ray Cantu, Apple Mitchell, Taylor Tagg, Stella Tartsinis, and Brandon Tyus. These authors believe that Napoleon Hill's research can help change the lives of people through the 17th Principles of Personal Achievement, Law of Success, and Think and Grow Rich among other astounding texts written by Napoleon Hill. Andrew Carnegie, the initiator of the science of success, inspired young Napoleon Hill in 1908 to make it his life's mission to document the principles of personal achievement after their three-day interview in New York City. Carnegie introduced Napoleon Hill to some of the most affluent and successful people in history through letters of introductions as a way to provide the necessary research needed to systemize a framework to teach the common man the strategies of success. The Napoleon Hill Foundation today carries out the work of Napoleon Hill, whose life mission was to help people believe that they can achieve their deepest desires once limiting beliefs are removed. Napoleon Hill laid out the 17th Principle of Personal Achievement as a framework to teach the steps of success. The Napoleon Hill foundation carries out Hill's legacy of the 60+ years of dedicated service to the teaching of the 17th Principles of Personal Achievement. The foundation furthers Napoleon Hills work by producing success literature so that they can further help motivate people to achieve more, and follow their desires.
