F-102A Delta Dagger Model: How to build Encore's F-102A Delta Dagger
This book contains detailed instructions on building the F-102A 1/48 scale model aircraft from Encore. A full color version is available as a PDF download on my website along with a grayscale spiral bound version. This kit is based on Revell's F-102A except some resin parts and photo-etch were added along with a set of color instructions. The photo etch is a partial Eduard set. I wrote my book to include instructions for the basic kit using Revell's instruction. To give the option to just use the kit part, I added separate steps for the resin and PE parts. I recommend comparing the resin parts with corresponding kit parts to see if you would rather stick with the kit part. I will list both Encore and Revell paint recommendations in each step. This book provides a little history of the Delta Dagger, a detailed list of tools that I used to build this model, along with a list of paints. The actual instruction section contains 516 steps and 77 plus figures over 98 pages that tell you what to dry fit, glue, and/or paint for each individual piece. Each step instruction shows the source (i.e., either Encore or Revell) along with a block to mark that you completed the step. The major instruction sequence for this model is1. Engine2. Fuselage3. Cockpit4. Nose Gear Wheel Well5. Seat & Controls6. Main Gear Wheel Well7. Flaps8. Engine Intakes9. Wing/Fuselage Assembly10. Nose Cone11. Canopy12. Pilot13. Bottom Antennas14. Paint & Decals15. Speed Brakes16. Tail Hook17. Nose Gear & Door18. Main Gear & Doors19. Fuel Tanks20. Weapons Bay21. NoseI provide an index of the individual sprue parts that show where in the book the part is mentioned. This index was a great way to make sure that no pieces were overlooked. Finally, there are several pages of in-process photos with assembly tips and the final photos of my build for reference. This book is a great checklist to make your build go smoothly. Of course, you can feel free to use different tools, paint, weathering, etc. or even add your own diorama. I hope you find this book useful. This book contains detailed instructions on building the F-35B Lightning II 1/48 scale model aircraft from Kitty Hawk. This book covers VERSION 2.0 of the model. If the box on your model kit does not say Version 2.0 then you need my other book for the initial version. A spiral bound version is also available on my website. (glennhoovermodels.com) The F-35 Fighter Aircraft has three versions. The F-35A is for the Air Force. The F-35C is for the Navy and has a longer wing span that can fold for carrier operations. The F-35B is for the Marines and can perform vertical takeoffs and landings. The F-35B Model is the most complex if you want to display its VSTOL capability that has many open access panels. I take the model kit instructions from Kitty Hawk and break them up into individual steps. I reorder the steps so that the small pieces (antennas, etc.) are assembled last which reduces the risk of damage when building the model. The steps are organized to insert the paint and decal steps in the best spot. This book provides a little history of the F-35B, photos of the model kit contents including the photo etch frets, a detailed list of tools that I used to build this model, along with a list of paints. The actual instruction section contains 649 steps that tells you what to dry fit, glue, and/or paint for each individual piece. Each step instruction shows the source (section) along with a block for you to mark that you completed the step. If the last column contains an X, that means there's a photo in the back with more details about the step. The major instruction sequence for this model is 1.Ejection Seat & Ladder (Build) 2.Instrument Panels 3.Nose Gear Wheel Well 4.Engine 5.Engine Exhaust Nozzle (Build) 6.Main Landing Gear Wheel Wells 7.Lower Lift Fan Intake 8.Fuselage and Wings Assembly, Paint, and Decals 9.Internal Weapons 10.Nose and Main Landing Gear 11.Engine Exhaust Nozzle (Install) 12.Doors (Flare/Chaff, Engine Exhaust, Weapons Bay) 13.Doors (Nose and Main Landing Gear) 14.External Missiles 15.Vent and Lift Fan Doors (Top) 16.Tails (Decals) 17.Speed Brake and Antenna 18.Cockpit Detail 19.Ejection Seat (Install) 20.Canopy, Pitot Tubes, & Ladder I provide an index of the individual sprue parts that show where in the book the part is mentioned. This index was a great way to make sure that no pieces were overlooked. Finally, there are several pages of in-process photos with assembly tips and the final photos of my build. This book is a great checklist to make your build go smoothly. Of course, you can feel free to use different tools, paint, weathering, etc. or even add your own diorama. It took me several weeks write the first cut of this book then another 2 months to do the actual build to test my instructions. I make tweaks to improve the instructions and add the photos. I did a lot of research and didn't see anything this detailed about a model build. Most articles or videos concentrate on parts of their build or just give a summary review. I wanted to go down to the piece level and take you thru the whole build. This is a nice tool. If you have this F-35B V2 model kit and get this book, you can dive right into the build with confidence. Christian Romano lives his life as a con-artist, burglar, drug dealer, and a ladies' man, using his good looks to con wealthy women out of jewels and money. When he is arrested and jailed in one of the most violent jails in the U.S. (Cook County in Chicago), a steamy affair begins with a nympho female jail guard. When he loses control of the romance, Christian must end the affair by reporting her to Internal Affairs. It turns out that she is already under suspicion for supplying drugs to various gang members inside the jail. He has to decide if he is ""rogue"" enough to help set her up for arrest. Meanwhile, the FBI wants to recruit Christian to gather information against a sadist ex-cop, Scott Mason, who has been arrested for murder. The risk? Christian must wear a wire and testify. The reward? Witness protection for Christian and his girlfriend and a modification of his prison sentence. Will Christian risk his life for a chance at freedom? Will the female sheriff ""get even"" with him? Or will his life end at the hands of the jail's drug lords or a lunatic former cop?

HIV/AIDS has become a psychiatric epidemic. The disease causes or exacerbates such psychiatric disorders as depression, dementia, schizophrenia, and bipolar disease. At the same time, the presence of a psychiatric disorder can lead to increased risk for HIV infection and worsen the prognosis of patients once they are infected. Dr. Glenn J. Treisman, who has been described as the "father of AIDS psychiatry," describes the relationship between psychiatric disorders and HIV/AIDS and demonstrates the ways in which effective recognition and treatment of mental disorders can increase a patient's ability to obtain better treatment, improve compliance with medical regimens, and reduce incidents of high-risk behavior. The book provides HIV/AIDS professionals with overviews of psychiatric disorders, including mood and personality disorders, mental retardation, substance abuse and addiction, and sexual disorders and dysfunction. It also provides mental health professionals with essential information on how to care for patients with HIV and those at risk for the infection. The book discusses psychopharmacology, psychotherapy and counseling, as well as adherence and compliance issues, and the relationship between psychiatric disorders and other STDs. Containing the most up-to-date information on diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment, this book draws on the authors' unrivaled experience and uses case studies to show HIV/AIDS professionals how psychiatric interventions benefit the patient, the medical team, and society as a whole. The cases are rich and engaging, and convey to the reader the intense disorder that can affect the lives of patients.

How Your Government Really Works

How Your Government Really Works

Greenwood Publishing Group Inc

The U.S. government is an ever-more-complex system that few American citizens comprehend in any detail. Even some of its most basic operations, seemingly clear in concept, are in reality intricate and obscure. Although textbooks explain how the government is supposed to work in theory, they don't reveal how it actually works in practice. This book offers a concise and objective explanation of government operations, mapping the federal government's branches, departments, agencies, corporations, and quasi-official bodies—and the bureaucracies that support them. The authors effectively bridge the gap between the government's ideal, balanced structure, laid out in the Constitution, and its actual institutionalized form today, making this a superb resource for students and citizens at large.Coverage of the government's inner workings includes such subjects as executive-branch appointments, domestic and foreign policy development and execution, the federal budget, the legislative process, the Congressional committee system, the drawing of Congressional districts, the levels of the federal judiciary, aides in all three branches, and the various government offices and oversight agencies.25 black-and-white photographsFigures and charts capturing the structure of the federal government and many aspects of its functioning, such as the federal budgeting process, the apportionment of electoral votes, and U.S. government receipts and outlaysTimelinesQuick-reference chart listing past presidents, their years in office, and their party affiliation

Introduction to International Politics

Introduction to International Politics

Introduction to international politics courses typically have multiple goals. On the one hand, instructors seek to introduce students to the discipline through readings and discussions of foundational theoretical perspectives and ongoing debates. On the other hand, instructors seek to help students become informed participants in policy debates about foreign policy and international politics issues by highlighting pressing contemporary issues. Effectively addressing both concerns requires more than simply including both topics in the course syllabus or in a textbook. It requires making systematic linkages between theory and policy. This is a long standing challenge in international politics, one raised many years ago by Alexander George in Bridging the Gap in which he called for greater communication between academic scholars and practitioners. This text seeks to link theory and policy in an organized and efficient fashion that does not ignore or slight the conceptual discussion of international relations or simply chase newspaper headlines. Chapters are organized around “Global Challenges and Policy Responses.” The challenges are presented as concrete policy problems relevant to the theme of the chapter. The discussion of responses emphasize concrete actions being taken or proposed by international organizations, the foreign policies of key states, international agreements, and actions taken by NGOs. Theoretical insights are used to help students understand challenges, think about solutions, and learn from the past.

When Shriley Chisholm was asked why she would dare run for president, her response was, why not her?Shirley Anita St. Hill Chisholm rose from being the child of immigrants to the United States to running for the highest office in the land. Her achievement in doing this as a Black woman was not in spite of her background but rather because of it. She became both the first African American woman elected to the US Congress and the first female African American of a major political party to make a serious run for president of the United States. She persevered by being steadfast in her political convictions and unwillingness to compromise on the issues she believed in. Chisholm directly challenged the political establishment and was successful because she galvanized women, minorities, young people, and the poor not only in her home district in Brooklyn, New York, but across the country. She was that catalyst for change who gave a political voice to so many segments of society who were, up until that time, ignored: women, minorities, the young, members of the gay community, domestic and agricultural workers, and the poor. Her run for the presidency in 1972 was a win in terms of her forging a unified grassroots campaign in which the voices of the previously voiceless joined together for a single cause of voting for someone who supported their diverse but collective interests. As many historians have pointed out, without Shirley Chisholm there may not have been a Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, or Kamala Harris.
