I took a completely different approach when writing this installment of The Cold Call King. I held nothing back. No excuses, no fluff, and absolutely no sugarcoating. Too many people make excuses for themselves and it holds them back. This book is a swift kick in the ass for those that are success driven and need direction and drive to accomplish the goals they have set for themselves. I don't think there has ever been a business book so in your face and to the point as this one here.

Humorous anecdotes that analyze the human condition, including stories with New York City as a backdrop to a person.s anecdotes of life. "I have recently lost my sight, so my husband said, do you want me to read in order, or just open up and start with something to get a feel? I chose "just open, and start" - We were both laughing so hard that hubby had to stop reading to catch his breath and I had to tell him to stop because I was in tears and my side was starting to hurt from laughing. Uncovering Indigenous Models of Leadership

Uncovering Indigenous Models of Leadership

Uncovering Indigenous Models of Leadership focuses on Native and Indigenous leadership as an expression of a lived experience––as seen, felt, and heard––from the perspectives provided by Native Pacific Islanders, Polynesians, and, more specifically, Samoans from the Talavou clan. Central to this study is the question: What themes and elements influence Samoan leadership and how might these leaders provide others, elsewhere, with a different model of leadership, to reduce the inequitable effects of capitalism’s insatiable hunger for more power and material gain, so that all people on planet Earth might thrive? This study asserts that alternative models of leadership must be uncovered and that Native and Indigenous People, specifically leaders, hold the keys to moving our species beyond survival so that we can all thrive. Liberating, inclusive, and anchored in self-determinism, it demonstrates that Native and Indigenous People know who they are, why they exist, and that they will continue to thrive, despite the ongoing impositions of colonialization, capitalization, and globalization on their ways of being and knowing. Ultimately, it uncovers an Indigenous model of leadership based on the notion of alofa, or love. As a companion to the study, the author has created an extended play album of original music titled, “Heart of the Matter,” which can be found online. Arguably no other nineteenth-century German composer was as literate or as finely attuned to setting verse as Robert Schumann. Jon W. Finson challenges long-standing assumptions about Schumann's Lieder, engaging traditionally held interpretations. He argues against the belief that the "Year of Song" simply reflects Schumann's personal life. Finson also devotes attention to the form and metric structure of German poetry that is almost entirely new to the discussion of Schumann's songs.Arranged in part thematically, rather than merely by strict compositional chronology, this book speaks to the heart of Schumann's music. Finson's sustained attention to performance, such as questions of whether two singers might divide performance of cycles or whether miscellanies form coherent entities, allows the reader to engage Schumann's songs in novel ways.Finson brings original research and the most recent scholarship to the musically literate public and the expert alike. This represents the definitive work on Schumann's songs and the standard reference for any Schumann enthusiast.

J. Robert Oppenheimer, the Cold War, and the Atomic West

J. Robert Oppenheimer, the Cold War, and the Atomic West

Jon Hunner

University of Oklahoma Press
2009

In 1922, the teenage son of a Jewish immigrant ventured from Manhattan to New Mexico for his health. It was the first of many trips to the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, a western retreat where J. Robert Oppenheimer would eventually hold pathbreaking discussions with world-renowned scientists about atomic physics. Oppenheimer came to feel at home in the American West, and while extensive studies have been made of the man, this is the first book to explicitly link him with the region. J. Robert Oppenheimer, the Cold War, and the Atomic West explores how the West influenced Oppenheimer as a scientist and as a person - and the role he played in influencing it.Jon Hunner's concise account of Oppenheimer's life and the emergence of an Atomic West distills a vast literature for students and general readers. In this brisk, engaging biography, the author recounts how Oppenheimer helped locate the atomic weapons research lab at Los Alamos, New Mexico, and helped establish leading physics departments at the University of California-Berkeley and Caltech. By taking part in moving atomic physics west of the Mississippi, Oppenheimer bolstered the establishment of research labs, uranium mines, nuclear reactors, and more, bringing talented people - and billions of dollars in federal contracts - to the region.Interwoven into this atomic tale are insights into the physicist's troubled growing-up years, his marriage and family life, the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and Oppenheimer's eventual downfall. After the first atomic bomb burst over the New Mexican desert in 1945 and as the Cold War developed, the American myth of the Wild West expanded to encompass atomic sheriffs saving the world for democracy - even as powerful opponents began questioning Oppenheimer's place in that story. Against the backdrop of the physicist's life twining with the region's history, Hunner explores the promise and peril of the Atomic Age.
