Etwa 10 Prozent aller Gef pflanzen der Welt sind Epiphyten (Aufsitzerpflanzen). In diesem Buch werden die Floristik, die Struktur und die r umliche Verteilung der epiphytischen Gef pflanzengemeinschaft in gesch tzten und ungesch tzten Waldfragmenten im Einzugsgebiet des Flusses Sorocaba/M dio Tiet beschrieben, das drei Vegetationstypen aufweist: Cerrado (CER), sommergr ner saisonaler Wald (FES) und dichter ombrophiler Wald (FOD). In jedem Vegetationstyp wurden sieben Waldfragmente untersucht. Insgesamt wurden 1080 Forophyten bewertet und in sechs vertikale Schichten unterteilt. Wir erfassten 176 epiphytische Arten, die zu 66 Gattungen und 14 Familien geh ren; H'=3,695; J=0,713; DMg=18,39. Von den Arten waren 56 % anemochorisch und 44 % zoochorisch. Die gr te floristische hnlichkeit wurde zwischen CER und FES festgestellt; FOD wies die h chste Anzahl an exklusiven Arten auf (94 spp.). Die vertikale Verteilung war unterschiedlich zwischen CER und FOD sowie zwischen FES und FOD, aber hnlich zwischen FES und CER. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die epiphytische Gemeinschaft von der Luftfeuchtigkeit abh ngig ist. Das Vorhandensein von 50 Arten, die in gewissem Ma e bedroht sind, ist ein starkes Argument f r die Erhaltung von Waldfragmenten im Einzugsgebiet.

It describes the methods used to obtain green preforms, such as cold pressed and hot sintering, describing the heating time, load, and time required for pressing the preforms. Additionally, wettability phenomena, which is directly related on infiltration, is extensively described. Wettability process and interfacial reactions are analyzed in many ceramic-metal systems prior to fabricate the composites. A complete description of fabrication processes for Metal Matrix Composites is included. An extensive section on structural, chemical, and mechanical characterization of composites fabricated with aluminum and magnesium alloys as matrices reinforced with titanium carbide (TiC), aluminum nitride (AlN), silicon carbide (SiC) and alumina (Al2O3) is included. Relevant techniques for joining composites, such as welding and brazing are addressed. As well as issues pertaining to the corrosion and wear of composites are discussed as well. Corrosion behavior of some composites exposed to aqueous media was analyzed. Corrosion of composites using TiC and SiC like reinforcement and Al, Ni, and some Al-Cux, Al-Mgx and Al-Cu-Li alloys like matrix is discussed extensively. The structural characterization techniques addressed include: scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), optical microscopy (OM), differential thermal analysis (DTA), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), and thermogravimetry analysis (TGA). Warne's original study provides an insightful analysis of the role of contemplation and creation in the thought of Josef Pieper, illustrating the importance of this practice to earthly happiness and human flourishing. What is the relationship between creation, contemplation, human flourishing, and moral development? Nathaniel Warne's Josef Pieper on the Spiritual Life offers a sophisticated answer to this question through a systematic analysis of philosopher Josef Pieper's (1904–1997) thought. Warne's examination centers on the role of contemplation and creation in Pieper's thinking, arguing that contemplation of the created order is a key feature of earthly happiness. By emphasizing the importance of contemplation, Pieper illustrates the deep interconnections between ethics, creation, and spirituality. For Warne, to posit a binary between the contemplative life and active life creates a false dichotomy. Following Pieper, Warne claims that theology and spirituality cannot be bracketed from ethics and social action—indeed, our lived experience in the world blurs the lines between these practices. Contemplation and action are closer together than are typically assumed, and they have important implications for both our spiritual development and our engagement with the world around us. Ultimately, Warne's emphasis on creation and contemplation represents an attempt to resist a view of ethics and the spiritual life that is divorced from our environment. In response to this view, Warne argues that we need a renewed sense that creation and place are important for self-understanding. Contemplation of creation is, fundamentally, a form of communion with God—we thus need a more robust sense of how ethics and politics are rooted in God's creative action. Taking Pieper as a guide, Warne's study helps to deepen our thinking about these connections.
