The process of beginning a career in dance can be intimidating and overwhelming. In choosing a school and a teacher, auditioning, competing, and signing a contract, a young dancer has to play many roles and make many difficult, life-altering choices. The older dancer faces a different set of concerns: dealing with the management and the press, navigating backstage politics, working through injuries, staying healthy, and eventually coping with the prospect of moving to a new profession. In ""The Dancer's Survival Manual"", former New York City Ballet dancers Marian Horosko and Judith Kupersmith, MD., draw upon their vast experience to carefully explain and demystify a career in dance. Written in a highly readable style, this comprehensive guide covers all the major decisions and challenges a dancer may face over the course of his or her career, and emphasizes the importance of caring for both the mind and body at every stage. Horosko and Kupersmith write with the knowledge that the most frightening aspect of any new venture is the unknown. They draw upon their vast experience to carefully explain and demystify a career in dance - engaging with and debunking common misconceptions about subjects in both the professional and personal realms. No dancer's collection is complete without this honest and engaging guide! This is a road map to plan your career in dance.

Air Quality Prediction in Multi Industries Using Computer Simulation

Air Quality Prediction in Multi Industries Using Computer Simulation

The issues arising from coal washery operations, particularly concerning the air environment, demand a systematic examination through a suitable computer algorithm. This algorithm should be developed based on mathematical models to quantify the impact on the air environment system. Consequently, this study aims to design and implement a computer algorithm, utilizing an appropriate contaminant transport model, to predict environmental parameters in and around coal washery complexes. The study identifies significant sources within coal washery operations and examines the pollution scenario of various industrial complexes, as well as the environmental status of nearby rivers, streams, and townships. The developed computer algorithm for predicting the dispersion of air pollutants serves as a versatile tool to address environmental issues related to air pollution. It can be considered a universal model that, with the identification of air pollution sources and estimation of their emission rates using suitable statistical models, can be applied to predict air pollution for various industries.

The Law of Habeas Corpus

The Law of Habeas Corpus

Judith Farbey QC; R.J. Sharpe; Simon Atrill

Oxford University Press
2011
sidottu
Habeas corpus is the principal means under the common law for the protection of personal liberty. By this ancient writ, the court assumes control over the body of a prisoner so it can discharge him or her to freedom if no proper legal cause can be shown for detention. Habeas corpus secures release from any form of unlawful custody, whether decreed by the highest powers of the state or imposed by the lowest slave-trader. Its reach is as diverse as the forms of confinement. Throughout its history, it has proved adept at adapting to new challenges. It extends beyond the prison wall and has been invoked to determine the proper parental custody of a child and to free patients wrongly detained for compulsory medical treatment, indentured workers, conscripted soldiers, as well as individuals wrongly held in the war on terrorism. Looking first at the historical development of the writ, the book traces its growth in significance until its emergence as a cornerstone of the rule of law. Having established habeas corpus as a central constitutional principle, the volume goes on to examine the role and limits of the remedy today. It describes the modern workings of habeas corpus and assesses its contemporary scope and function. The authors explore the relationship between habeas corpus and fundamental rights. Critically surveying the nature of judicial review on habeas corpus, the book investigates past, present, and potential future uses of the writ, providing a comprehensive statement of current English law and a discussion of the position in other Commonwealth countries.
