Author, Terry Georgeson, has over 30 years of reading stories to children - both her own and when helping to care for other families. She has also had many wonderful adventures and shared difficult days with those children and their families. This is the second book of the adventures of two very special children and their family. It was written for them after a visit and sharing of the difficult times that particular week. The family and their friends found the book to be helpful in talking about the everyday, so we wanted to share this story with you as well. What was very special is that the little boy in this story, who does not often talk about his own experiences, is able to talk and share when asked questions about what is happening in the book. He relates to this story as his family story, which is just amazing. There is also helpful information for parent/s and carer/s and those working with and supporting them and their children, about support for siblings of children with specials needs. There are challenges and also strengths when siblings receive recognition and support for their role in the family and with their special sibling. These siblings are very special indeed.Suitable for readers aged 3-8, to be read to and to read independently for young readers
The Mystical Sources of Existentialist Thought

The Mystical Sources of Existentialist Thought

George Pattison; Kate Kirkpatrick

At the time when existentialism was a dominant intellectual and cultural force, a number of commentators observed that some of the language of existential philosophy, not least its interpretation of human existence in terms of nothingness, evoked the language of so-called mystical writers. This book takes on this observation and explores the evidence for the influence of mysticism on the philosophy of existentialism. It begins by delving into definitions of mysticism and existentialism, and then traces the elements of mysticism present in German and French thought during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The book goes on to make original contributions to the study of figures including Kierkegaard, Buber, Heidegger, Beauvoir, Sartre, Marcel, Camus, Weil, Bataille, Berdyaev, and Tillich, linking their existentialist philosophy back to some of the key concerns of the mystical tradition.Providing a unique insight into how these two areas have overlapped and interacted, this study is vital reading for any academic with an interest in twentieth-century philosophy, theology and religious studies.

The best view comes after the hardest climb. While the principal's office may sometimes feel like the loneliest place in the building, it doesn't have to be. In Principaled, veteran principals Kate Barker, Kourtney Ferrua, and Rachael George draw back the curtain on their years of experience, revealing the strategies, mind-sets, and practices that have helped them flourish in their roles. With humor, humility, and candor, the authors detail the key ingredients to finding balance as a school leader: taking time to reflect and learn, seeking out mentors, crafting simple and clear goals, and not neglecting self-care. The authors present a step-by-step approach to facing the challenges of school change and demonstrate that achievement and improving culture are not mutually exclusive goals. Strengthened by their hard-earned wisdom, the dynamic trio behind Principaled will elevate school leaders and help them find their footing along the route to career contentment."Being a principal is a rocky ride. Tomorrow always has surprises waiting, there are always too many priorities, and for most of us good is not good enough. This is a rare book, written from the front line. A must-have for future, new, and experienced school leaders." -John Hattie, PhD, director of the Melbourne Educational Research Institute "Barker, Ferrua, and George's Principaled should be required as the go-to playbook for every education leader seeking to lead effectively. The reader is left with the seeds of effective leadership and a developed purpose, and presented with a comprehensive game plan on how effective principals can be cultivated through strategic reflection." -Dr. A. Katrise Perera, 2015 NASS Superintendent of the Year "Barker, Ferrua, and George masterfully identify the areas where it matters the most: knowing yourself, knowing your people, and knowing your skill sets. The authors share personal stories and relevant examples with refreshing honesty and insight." -Jimmy Casas, leadership coach, educator, author, and speaker
