In einer Art Fachbibliothek hatten sie Werke und Schriften zusammengetragen, die sie fur die Ausubung ihres Berufes benotigten.Die von Stefan M. Maul und Rita Strauss im vierten Band der "Keilschrifttexte aus Assur literarischen Inhalts" (KAL 4) vorgelegten Texte stammen vorwiegend aus dem sogenannten "Haus des Beschworungspriesters". Im Mittelpunkt stehen die bislang unveroffentlicht gebliebenen Beschreibungen von "Loseritualen" ("namburbi"), mit deren Hilfe ein durch Vorzeichen angekundigtes Unheil abgewendet werden sollte, noch bevor es spurbare Gestalt angenommen hatte.
