Marvin is not happy. Why are the other sheep bigger than him? And why are they faster than him? And WHY can they jump higher than him? Something has to change, and Marvin knows exactly how to change it . . . by EATING! Because if he's bigger than the other sheep, then surely he will be better, too? And after eating the grass and the flowers and the bushes, Marvin wants more. And after eating the trees and the clouds and the sky, Marvin still wants more! But what happens when there's nothing more left for Marvin to eat? A brilliantly funny picture book about a brilliantly greedy sheep!

One perfect morning Molly eats the very apple that Marvin had his eye on. Marvin is CROSS and has a terrible tantrum, rampaging through the countryside, causing chaos. Who will be able to calm Marvin down and tease him out of his tantrum? Will he be able to do it by himself or will he need some help?
Poems and Short Stories of Marvin R. Mednick
These poems and short stories vary in both size and content. Most are memories of my growing up in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York. The poem "Woodridge" is among my favorites. "I came from Brooklyn my father to gleam, The house of Pagoda a baby would scream. Although sustaining less laughter than tears, Youth in Woodridge were still the best years." Another poem "Twins" I wrote for my friend. "They came into the world like a Fox Twins so a like, like shoes in the box clock tick tocks. He is my friend, the watchdog of my fury, guardian of the past Shelly I see, sorrow, ecstasy of the soul, deck to the mast forever to last." The short story "Liza Taube" is about a man beloved by everyone in my hometown. "Louis Liza' Taube was born kicking and fighting, in the small town where he would spend his entire life. "Like my brother Joel, he was an innocent child lost in the body of an adult."

All the horses of Storybook Stables are excited to meet the latest addition to their herd. As Marvin the miniature horse arrives in a trailer, the horses think he is the tiniest and cutest horse they have ever seen. Unfortunately, Marvin is not as excited to meet them as they are him. Every time one of the big horses approaches to welcome him, Marvin frowns, backs his ears, shows his teeth, and charges. When the big horses grow tired of his rejections and decide to leave him alone, Marvin calls the horses names, treats them badly, and bullies them into giving up their grass and water. Will the caring herd ever find a way to teach Marvin a lesson in kindness and friendship? Marvin the Mini: The Barnyard Bully is the delightful tale of how a little horse with a big attitude learns a valuable life lesson from his new herd. Based on stories of real horses once boarded at Cherry Point Saddle Club, aboard MCAS Cherry Point, Storybook Stables delights readers with whimsical and heartwarming stories of what can happen if you only take time to watch and listen to what the animals might be saying and the lessons they could be trying to teach. For an added touch of whimsy and fun, see if you can find the unicorn hiding somewhere in the book Illustrator, Laurie, says everyone could use a few more unicorns and rainbows

You Can Blame It On Mike!: Political Updates by Marvin Klein The Early Years (2004-2005)
There is a streak of Don Quixote in Marvin... and perhaps in you. In an earlier era, Mike Royko was the Journalistic Don Quixote of Chicago and Marvin's idol. Mike wrote a newspaper column that was syndicated in 600 newspapers around the country. His insights were brilliant, his observations on target and his comments enlightening. When Royko died at the age of 62 in 1997, Marvin tried to pick up his lance and started to write commentaries for a few friends and relatives. Although obviously, no one can replace Mike Royko, today hundreds of people enjoy reading and commenting on the Political Updates from Marvin. In this book, Marvin encourages us to enjoy and understand the politics that shape our society. Just like Don Quixote, we seem to be up against impossible situations. But by reviewing a similar key election cycle of ten years ago we can better understand and react to our current challenges. Marvin writes about why we should care more about the politics that are shaping our lives, and maybe even chase some windmills along the way. The Political Updates are about life, current events, and of course, ourselves as citizens, voters, non-voters and... dreamers. Although he hopes these old Updates are enjoyable to read, they allow us to reminisce about how we felt about a very similar political situation and hopefully help us understand our current challenges. We can and should learn from the past as history often repeats itself. But for better or worse and for your enjoyment, education or confusion, here are the Political Updates from Marvin for 2004 and 2005. And if you don't like them or disagree with the commentaries, Marvin says... You can blame it on Mike

Marvin Gaye sang like he lived in bed. He could croon, deliver a political commentary, and sing to you like you were the only other soul on this earth. And in 1976 he gave us a taste of his erotic imagination with I Want You. An album made in honor of his ongoing love affair with Janis (Jan) Hunter, Gaye delivered excess and restraint to sound his desire. I Want You is an album that stands apart from Gaye’s earlier collaborations with Diana Ross, Tammi Terrell, Mary Wells, and Kim Weston. Though not technically a duet, Gaye forges another kind of collaboration with Jan, the result of which is an album that provides an intimate portrait of an artist in love and lust. Using interviews, visual art, poetry, criticism, and gossip, this book explores ecstasy, funk, sensation, and a host of other delicious and fleshy concerns that animate I Want You. It does not attempt a strict historicization of the album as that would do it a disservice. Instead, this book seeks fidelity to the album by centering Gaye’s fantasies, his engagement with Ernie Barnes’ painting Sugar Shack, and sonic expression of desire for Jan.
