As we age, we all become increasingly susceptible to seeing a recurring parade of spots or streaks appear before our eyes. If your vision is affected by this problem, chances are you've been told that you will just need to learn to live with it--but it doesn't have to be this way. In Healing Floaters and Detachments Naturally, authors Dr. Marc Grossman and Michael Edson tell you what you can do to regain a clearer view of the world around you--one free of those annoying little objects that drift in and out of your field of vision. This book is divided into four parts. Parts One and Two discuss floaters and detachments, respectively, explaining their risk factors and possible treatments, which may include both conventional methods and complementary approaches such as supplementation, lifestyle changes, and traditional Chinese medicine. Part Three then details the common drugs that can lead to floaters and detachments, while Part Four describes the importance of a proper diet in relation to alleviating and avoiding these troublesome issues. If you are among those people who have been told to learn to accept these visual nuisances as an unavoidable part of life, Healing Floaters and Detachments Naturally can help you to put these distractions out of sight--and out of mind.

Nurses and physician's don't always understand that you can't change health care by merely making an argument about what's wrong with it and expecting Administration to fix it. Administration doesn't know how to fix the major problems on the front line. Front-line workers often have the answers, it's merely a matter of helping them to figure it out and articulate it in a way that Administration can't help but approve, because it makes so much sense system wise and economically. The key to that is Project Management Project Management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to address the needs of a specific situation. It involves getting the key stakeholders to define the beginning, ending, and goals to be achieved and then having the right people (front line workers and leaders) to solve the challenges in an effective way that is sustainable.
Mechanisms of DNA Damage and Repair

Mechanisms of DNA Damage and Repair

This book is based on the papers presented at the conference on "Mecha nisms of DNA Damage and Repair: Implications for Carcinogenesis and Risk Assessment," held at the National Bureau of Standards on June 2-7, 1985, This volume deals with mechanisms of DNA damage and repair at the molecular level; consequences of unrepaired or misrepaired damage, with major emphasis on carcinogenesis; drugs which bind selectively to altered and potentially damaging DNA sequences; and potential utilization of DNA damage as an endpoint for assessing risks of UV light, ionizing radiations, chemicals, drugs, and hazardous agents in foods. Because the induction of mutations by radiation and genotoxic chemicals has been observed to follow one-hit kinetics in some instances, it is generally assumed that any level of exposure to a DNA-damaging agent may increase the risk of genetic disease or cancer in an exposed population. At the same time, however, there is evidence that although the DNA of living cells is continually damaged by natural background radiation, free radicals, and other naturally occurring processes, most of the damage is normally repaired.
