Her foundation has been rocked to its core. Can she trust the one man that makes her feel safe, or is he behind the nightmare that will destroy her? Forensic specialist Emersyn D'Azzo bears the haunting scar of a sniper's bullet-the very one that stole her father away. Despite overwhelming grief, she hunts his murderer. One man can help her, but he's deliberately distanced himself and barricaded access to her father's case. He may be everything she desires in a man, but Emersyn will cut right through him to catch a killer. Detective Alec Pearce is haunted by nightmares of his partner's lifeless body in his arms. Joe D'Azzo never wanted Alec anywhere near her and for a good reason. But that doesn't stop Alec from wanting her. When her life is threatened, his plan to keep Emersyn at arm's length changes. To stop a killer, he must get very close and personal. Can Emersyn and Alec accept the power of love that can only make them stronger before they become the sniper's next mark? The Eyewitness is a must-read for those who crave a story that keeps them on the edge of their seat, luring them into a world where danger and desire collide. Don't miss out on this enthralling blend of enemies to lovers suspense, romance, and mystery-a tale that will leave you eagerly anticipating the next chapter in The D'Azzo Family series. Author's note: While I wrote each book in The D'Azzo Family series as a standalone romance, the series is a much more enjoyable read in order.
In 1931, the New York Times hailed Belle Case La Follette as "probably the least known yet most influential of all the American women who have had to do with public affairs." A dedicated advocate for women's suffrage, peace, and other causes, she served as a key advisor to her husband, leading Progressive politician Robert La Follette. She also wielded considerable influence through her own speeches and journalism, as when she opposed racism by speaking out against the segregation of the federal government under President Woodrow Wilson. In a concise, lively, and engaging narrative, Nancy C. Unger shows how Belle La Follette uniquely contributed to progressive reform, as well as the ways her work was typical of women--and progressives--of her time. Supported by primary documents and a robust companion website, this book introduces students of American history to an extraordinary woman and the era of Progressive reform.

The altar sits at the heart of the worship space, reminding everyone that here is where we lift our hearts up to God. Often the altar is decorated, but almost always in the same way: with flowers, candles, or a cross. But what if the altar could be made a more integral part of the worship experience? What if the visual elements on the altar could be designed to fit in with that Sunday's scriptures, hymns, prayers, and sermon? And what if it could be done, not only beautifully, but simply and inexpensively, so that churches of any size could benefit from this enhancement to their worship? That is just what Nancy Townley and Stephanie Davis are offering in this helpful and practical book. Worship leaders and artists, they have assembled dozens of beautiful, worshipful altar designs, pictures of which appear in the book. Detailed instructions accompany the artwork and illustrate how to create the design, and how and where to find or purchase the component elements with the least effort and expense. Designed with the needs of small membership and mid-size churches in mind, this volume offers indispensable guidance for anyone who wants to make worship a more enriching and transforming experience.
Nancy was born in rural Ohio and later grew up on a golf course that her dad built. She became a teacher in the same school that she went to as a little girl. She is a widow and the mother of two sons. Nancy now has three granddaughters. When Nancy's husband died suddenly, she filled her time with teaching her first graders, raising her family and writing. Now that Mrs. Scott has retired, she looks forward to publishing those books that she wrote while grieving over the loss of her husband and traveling to many places.
